We are using ProjectWise explorer version 10.00.03.453 and logging into another companies server to work.

ONE user on ONE computer cannot open a couple files they created 2 years ago.

If he remotes into another machine, he is able to open it. We searched and found information here: Using the CHKLCLEANUP Utility in ProjectWise [TN]

but this file does not exist on anyones machine at our company...

So far we have tried uninstalling PW and deleting the working directory on the c drive to no avail. IT has to be storing old information somewhere on this machine.

We are starting to transition to Connect from SS2.I am setting up Item Types (we used to use tags)

Is there a way to report a station or station range of a line or shape? I cannot find anything logical in the syntax expressions that could do this.

If this COULD be done, it would be a game changer.

Question: Is there an easy way to "explode" the terrain to be lines with elevations to be viewed in v8i SS2?? Doing this for multiple terrains at once is a plus!!

Background: Our client is primarily PennDOT who still use V8i SS2 but are in the process of switching over to ORD. We (the sub contractor) are currently working on our first project in ORD BUT some of our groups are still in SS2. Not everyone in our company has ORD on their machines or have had training in ORD yet so I am trying to make this is easy as possible.

I know I can export to DTM and then open in V8i and display BUT that adds time and there is the off chance it doesn't display the exact same. For this particular project, there are 25+ terrain models which makes exporting all to DTM a hassle, so bonus points for being able to convert multiple at once.

Thanks!

It has been my understanding that we should NOT update the standard configs in C:\ProgramData\Bentley\OpenSite Designer CE\Configuration (ie the ConfigurationSetup.cfg and the WorkSpaceSetup.cfg).

Is there good guidance on how to this up with examples? I have read/digested all links here: https://communities.bentley.com/products/microstation/w/microstation__wiki/36416/connect-edition---custom-configuration-guides but it seems they indicate to edit config files i have listed above...

I am essentially trying to point the program to the network for the organization and workspaces

F:\Bentley\Connect Workspace\Configuration\Organization

F:\Bentley\Connect Workspace\Configuration\WorkSpaces

I can easily do this by editing the ConfigurationSetup.cfg on the C drive but just wanted to see if there was a "Better" way.

We are in the process of upgrading from SS2 to SS4 and ran into a werid issue. I have 2 independent workspaces set up for each version. I copied the linestyle .rsc files from the SS2 workspace to the SS4 workspace.

For certain linestyles, when opened in SS4, they appear HUGE. When i close and reopen with a SS2 platform, they appear normal.

The linestyle is drawn at 1-scale and then is changed by modifying the model properties global linescale to 300 (1"=25') in SS2....it appears SS4 looks correct when I change the model properties global linescale to 25 (1:25). Why would it be doing this?

Thanks

I am an engineer who has been tasked with upgrading our workspace to newer times. With all new computers shipping with Windows 10 and SS2 no longer being supported, out hand has been forced in upgrading...

I have high design skills but only intermediate knowledge of how MicroStation "innards" works.

We have been using SS2 (MicroStation and PowerDraft) for over 10 years. The workspace/cfg was piece mealed to work from a previous companies set up. In short, it is a mess and > 10 years of chaos....

Current products / setup:

We have 30 or so cadd users. all profiles on the server.

MicroStation SS2 (with InRoads), Power Draft SS2, and PowerInRoads SS2.

All run by changing the MSLocal.cfg to point to a workspace on our "F" drive for the workspace and "P" drive for the actual cadd files

EVERYTHING is stored here.

What we need:

Access to standards (Cells, plot drivers, dgnlibs, macros, seed file, text rsc files, color tables) on server so we can make changes in one spot

Have 3 "sets of standards" from different clients

A way to differentiate between clients for projects. I assume this can be easily done in the .pcf in the project folder.

I envision the following where A is loaded, and either B and C is depending on which "project" is selected.

company wide standards

Client 1 standards

client 2 standards

What I know (and don't):

I know that the UPF on the server is the likely cause of speed issues.

I've done some research and have come up with a few paths to follow....I know number 1 is "frowned upon" based on my reading of the Bentley community forums but may be "easiest" to do.

copy entire workspace to server "F drive" again, change mslocal.cfg, add pertinent cells, dgnlibs, etc to the proper location.

With this set up, not sure how to move the UPF to the local drives

This doesn't "future proof" us...

Bentley LEARN. "Manage Project Configurations" - says to add a line of code in the "standards.cfg" that points to the server for a "global.cfg" and "userdata.cfg" Allows us to utilize the server for project related items.

The learning center mentions using the "global.cfg" and "userdata.cfg" files they provide as needed, and modify to fit. I cant find/download these files.

Not sure exactly what sort of code these need as I havnt seen the examples

Via "Bears" blogs. Add a .cfg to the "appl" directory. His blogs are very technical and almost seem "more than we need" but I am not sure.

Same as above. Im not sure

My firm routinely develops hydrology calculations for linear highway projects. Our general process is to manually delineate land uses from survey/aerial, then pull in soils shapefiles and refill those previous shapes to differentiate difference hydrology soil groups (HSG). We then tag those shapes with the "Land use" , "POI" and HSG. The process after pulling the tags, is streamlined in excel.

This requires someone to check that everything was input correctly.

Is there a way, like in arcGIS, to combine multiple shapes (Land use, HSG, POI) and pull there applicable attributes? This is pretty easy to accomplish in ArcGIS but we have 2 licenses...
