Could you please make it clear that whether Ram SS consider the accidental eccentricity in semi-rigid diaphragms even with “static” earthquake load cases?

As I know, with semi-rigid diaphragms, even with “static” seismic loadings, RAM instead of lumping mass at the center of mass and applying earthquake loads at center of mass of each diaphragms or an eccentric location, applies the loads according to each finite element mesh and associated mass to each mesh. I want to know in such case, mass eccentricity which is defined in diaphragm masses table is also applied and considered?

with Regards

Is it possible in Ram SS to apply line loads on slab edge in a concrete structures which does not have any beams?

Or is it possible to apply line or point loads directly on concrete slab?

when I apply line loads on slab edge I observe errors in the integrity check report regarding not supporting line loads in the layout.

Thank You.

Ask A Question I

Ask a question in a forum.

movement joint modelling in ram ss (vertical load capacity without tension capacity)

I'm modeling a concrete two-way slab structure including multiple permanent "movement joints" with Ram SS.

In my model, movement joints are mostly located at the middle of spans and if I develop completely separated edges at each side of the joint, then half of the span will act as cantilever slab which is not correct because ram creates two separated diaphragms and there would be no shear transfer. I need to say that the movement joint detailing has round dowels to facilitate vertical load transfer without tension capacity.

My question is how to model a movement joint in ram ss "to be capable" to transfer vertical load without tension capacity? does ram ss has a solution for this issue?

regards
