I'm looking to draw an underdrain below a ditch berm.

It seems like a lot of the modeling of pipes is done with top down with station and elevation. But having to put bends in pipes from a top down view is quite tricky when I can't fully rely on just the station and elevations. Sue I can get the proper elevation for the outlet and inlet of the pipe but the proper heights and stationing for the bends are harder. I'd like to be able to just draw it in a cross section but that doesn't work. I don't necessarily even need the data from the pipe since I've already calculated it. I just have to show it on the plans and cross sections.

I can look at it through the profile. But I cant really draw something on this.

Here is a dynamic cross section I've drawn some smart lines in as a way to model it. but nothing shows up on the plans.

Let me Help You

Answer a question that is verified as helpful or correct.

adding additional info to the terrain file causes the profile to be moved

I requested additional survey to be done for me project. The surveyor added the csv data into the field book for my terrain file. This caused my current vertical profile to be dramatically shifted from where it should have been. Is there a way to avoid this? Did the surveyor mess up when importing the data? was it because the vertical alignment was ruled/snapped to the terrain that when new data was added behind it the whole profile moved?

Then after they get out of that file that has my corridor file referenced I can work just fine in it. Later if I'm still working in my corridor file and that coworker tries to get back in their OpenRoads doesn't work.

Some background for how we reference/ work in files. We have a terrain file that just has survey data in it. That file is then referenced to an alignment file where we create an alignment and profile. Both of those files are referenced to a corridor file where a corridor is created. then all those files are referenced to a plan file where notes are added and sheets are cut.

Does OpenRoads not like when 2 separate computers are working with files referenced to each other? I'm working in the corridor file that someone has referenced and is currently working with.

My computer can work with an alignment file and a corridor file both open at the same time. Yet when another computer opens a file it slows way down.

The weird part about this is that the issue only seems to happen when I'm in the corridor file. Their file doesn't slow down when I'm in an alignment file.

We've messed around with the live nesting from 99 to 1 and it still slows down.

Trying to figure out if this is an internet/server issue, computer processing power issue or a OpenRoads Issue.

Profile View Bug causing crashing

Whenever I try to open the profile view openroads crashes. (crashes when the command says select view and I click into the box to see it)

I created a profile from my horizontal alignment and then drew a new vertical over the profile. complexed the vertical and then closed the file. Opened another file that had the alignment referenced so I could draw my corridor. Decided to open my profile view since I wasn't necessarily using the active profile to create my corridor and I wanted to click on the profile in the profile view. when I went to open the profile view openroads crashed/froze. I closed the program and went back to my alignment file and went to go open my profile view and it crashed. I delete the vertical alignment and profile then create a new profile from the horizontal alignment and go to open the profile view it crashes.

I had this same problem all yesterday and then miraculously this morning after leaving my PC off all night openroads seemed to fix itself. I could open the profile view without it crashing. I drew a new vertical alignment in it and closed the file and went to my corridor file where I opened the profile view where it proceeded to crash. Went back to my alignment and it would still crash. I had a coworker try to open the profile view on his computer and it crashed.

I'm not sure why it worked this morning when it was crashing all yesterday. I did nothing different from what I'd normally do. It wasn't until I went into another file that it was referenced to and tried to open the profile view that it crashed for all my files in that workset. The 3D and cross section views work but not the profile.

Excavation cut and fill quantities using templates

I am trying to get excavation cut and fill quantities for a project. The plan is to cut the current slope in half to modify the beginning slope but keep the other half on the same slope. Instead of redrawing the slope, is it possible to just break the current one in half and modify both ends?
