Having looked through the RAM Data Access, it does not seem like design reports are reachable through the API. Is there any way to quickly extract multiple design reports to a CSV file? Some of the reports I need are listed below:

Corebrace summary

Frame Story Shear

Member force summary

Dirft at control points

RAM Frame Unstable Structure

I have a 6-story BRB model that runs fine. As soon as I add a seventh story (diaphragm is different than stories below), I get an unstable structure detected. The node for which the instability is found occurs in the middle of the diaphragm. I have column ends fixed in all directions, beam ends released for torsion, and brace ends released in all directions. I've played with these fixities, but nothing seems to work. I also know it is not an issue with the different diaphragm because I used that diaphragm on the 6-story model, and that also runs fine. I'm pretty confident it is an issue with P-delta because the model runs when I turn off P-delta, but I can't figure out how to get it working with P-delta.

Service Steel Beam Demand

Is there a way to output the individual DL & LL service demands for a steel gravity beam? Currently, the only output from a beam design report is the factored demand. Occasionally, this includes 1.4D & 1.2D+1.6L, which makes it possible to back calculate the DL & LL demands, but 1.4D is not always included.

Building Frame & Story Shears

I have a relatively basic model consisting of 2 BRB frames in both the X and Y direction. The building is basically a rectangle. When I look at the sum of the frame shears in a given direction, for a given load case, at a given level from the "Frame Story Shears" report, I do not get the value that is reported for the same direction, load case, and level in the "Building Story Shears" report. Any idea why this is the case? The sum of frame shears is on the order of 10% higher than the building story shear value.

Gravity Load In-Plane Shear

I am designing some concrete shear walls in the Concrete module and have a handful of walls with very large in-plane shear forces due to gravity loads only. I am wondering why this is the case as I would expect gravity forces to not produce any in-plane shear.

Data Check Errors

I am using RAM SS and when I run the data check for gravity, I get a few errors relating to some beams that are not supported on one of their ends; however, as best I can model them, they are supported. No matter how I draw them, on/off grid, beam to beam, col to beam, etc, nothings works. Is there a reason these errors are occurring and is there a way to resolve them?

Ask A Question I

Ask a question in a forum.
