Dowswell, B., 2003, Connection Design for Steel Structures, Structural Design Solutions, LLC

I have not been able to find this document anywhere which presents a rather large issue when interpreting the RAM Connection Results. Could you please provide a location to buy/access this reference? If it is no longer available for purchase, I would recommend finding a new reference for these calculations, if possible, or providing additional background on the calculations using this reference.

1) Why the footing has to be in full contact for ultimate load cases?

2) Why doesn't SFA design combined footings when the footing is not in full contact?

3) Will this be changed at any point?

[ERROR] FOOTING IS NOT IN FULL CONTACT FOR CURRENT ULTIMATE LOAD CASE. SFA CAN NOT INCREASE SIZE AS FOOTING HAS REACHED ITS MAXIMUM SIZE.CURRENTLY SFA DESIGNS COMBINED FOOTING ONLY WHEN THE FOOTING IS IN FULL CONTACT WITH SOIL. PLEASE MAKE TRIAL WITH A HIGHER RANGE OF MAXIMUM DIMENSION.
