I can not stop CONNECT Advisor from popping-up upon starting of AECOsim Building Designer. I have tried unticking 'Launch Connect Advisor on startup' box. I have also tried 'Use my save settings' checkbox, but nothing seems to work.

Steps to Accomplish

This is happening due to an error in user preference settings file. You need to delete the file and when you will restart AECOsim Building Designer, it will recreate the file. Then you can make changes as per you requirement and the same will be saved.

The name of the file you need to delete is "UserSettings.sqlite". The same can be found in 'C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Bentley\AdvisoryService\v0.8\' .

When I look in the Render Properties of the Family/Part editor, I see a Render Palette can be assigned. When I go to RMC > Properties, I can open the Material Editor, in which I can open a Palette to see the materials available in dgnlibs. I can go RMC > Assign To Part, which gives me the option to assign it to a part.

I notice sometimes the material seems to be coming from a dgnlib file (see image 1), sometimes from the local file (see image 2). I don't seem to be able to edit this in this menu. It seems once the material is somewhere local in the file, it refers to the local file, which I think you should avoid in the Part libaray (since they are for all projects with that Dataset).

What is the correct way to edit the Rendering Properties, so to be sure the part refers to a library palette and not a local one (and is for every file with that same dataset the same)? From within which file do you edit the Family/Part settings? (for all other defined things in the Editor it doesn't seem to matter, but for the material assigned it seems different);

What is this $(_DGNLIB) variable I seem to get there? I used the Configuration Explorer, but this variable doesn't seem to exist, but still appears in front of bothe the dgnlib or dgn file (which should suggest it would refer to a path where these files are found?)

*easy way I mean similar to, how easy is adding window/door in the wall. I`am not looking to do this in 3d or any other around time consuming method because I know them. I`am looking for simple answer for this specific question.

Problem Description

A specific size of compound wall is needed and there isn't one in the program that meets the company standards. How can we create a compound wall and make it available for placement?

Steps to Resolve

Here are the steps to create a new compound wall:

1) Open the Dataset Explorer and copy the compound part that closely resembles the compound wall you want to create and rename it, right click on the new part created and select "properties" - in the Wall assembly box is where you will make the changes of the compound wall dimensions. Save changes.

2) Go to the DataGroup Catalog Editor and select the compound wall copy it and rename it (that way you know is the new datagroup instance data to assign to the new wall), on the right box update the part to the new part definition you just created in Dataset Explorer (Object Material : Part Definition) . Save changes.

3) When you select the place wall tool you will see the new wall listed. It should have the new giving dimensions. Just make sure the part is active before placing the wall.

I'm on Openbuildings update 6 and are trying to export drwaings to DWG.

I have a house with 6 floors. I've split the design files to 6 different files, one for each floor. But referenced them together in a composition file from where the callouts are taken. Each callout is then placed in a separate drawing file. All of these drawing files have the same scale. But when exporting them to DWG, the line style scale differs. This happens every time, and have happened many times before, in different projects. The pattern scale is the same and I use the same DWG-settings file for all exports.

Why are they different and how do I solve this extremely frustrating problem.
