Reporting from Item Types in Cells

I have a cell library in which I have defined Item Types and attached them to an element in the cells so that when they are placed, they will have the Item Types already attached. My aim is to produce a report that contains all the Item Type values along with the X,Y,Z coordinates of the cell origin. My report runs on 'Cells + related items.' which are Item Types. I have added all the columns for cell coordinates & Item Types. When I run the report though my table only populates results related to cell property values & not Item Types. The Item Type values do not come through. In the course of testing I have found that my report will work if I place a cell without an Item Type already attached, and then attach the Item Type after it has been placed. This seem like an unnecessary step, & will not work for me anyway as I am also displaying the Item Types in text field built into the cells. So I can’t add them later. I suspect that I can get it to work if ‘Add related Item’ the correct way. However, when I look at doing this I find myself in an endless loop going through an Item Type into a cel into an Item Type into a cell and so on. The screen capture below hopefully demonstrates this. Hoping for some feedback on how to get this to work.

Nested Reference Files -- Level on/off not updating

In the past I have been able to create a "master" file with all of my references and then simply attach that 1 file to my sheet file in order to simplify my life. In this way, I can change what levels are on/off on my master file instead of needing to open all of my sheet files to adjust what levels are showing. However, I'm having issues that when I make changes to my master file (turning on/off) those levels stay on in my sheet file. How do I make them update with the changes to my master file? if I reattach my master file, it updates however that eliminates the ease of using the master. Thanks!

Create Drawing Key-in Command for Barmenu

I am making a barmenu. I have gotten just about everything figured out so far. I am having a problem adding a line to the menu to create a new drawing and use a certain seed file I have saved on my computer. I thought about changing the configuration variable to make it the default seed file but that would effect other users. Is there a way to make this work?

Right now I was trying:

New Print File, "create drawing;"

I thought there was a sub command I could use to say where the seed file was:

New Print File, "seed=C:\Barmenu\Seedfile.dgn;create drawing;"

I am wanting to change the configuration variable level from system to undefined so the print output directory will default to last location that is used. Any ideas?

How to change several normal cells to shared cells?

I'm making some plans for supports on piping instalattion, so this pieces are the same and are too many, by end, i would get a file around 168 MB (just the supports). Is there any way to convert/change regular normal cells into shared cells? I follow a procedure thru exporting to DWG and the importing again, unfortunaly i get a bad result like the one in the attachment.

I have several files like this one that I have to merge together with the pipes and some other information plus the paper spaces, in one test, I get a DGN file of about 768 MB, and that will be for one instalattion (building), that it is why I need to be shared cells. Plus, when using the precedure of DWG Export, change the scale of the shared cells to 10 times (Original DGN: Main Units=Meters, auxiliary units=mm)

Import the ESRI ASC file format into Point Cloud tools

The ESRI ASC file format is typically a gridded data model extracted from an ESRI database.

Typically, the files contain millions of points. The two examples I have now (that I am trying to figure out how to import) contain 9 million and 16 million points. Which, in effect, makes them a "point cloud".

With this many points, the best method of display is via the Point Cloud engine.

The thought is this:

The ESRI ASC files are given to use as "existing ground data" for a project.

We need to make an existing ground surface from the data for use in either Civil design or drainage analysis. Bentley Civil products do not have a method (that I am aware of) to import and filter that data.

There is currently a method, using Descartes, to import the data to a "saleable terrain model". This can then be exported to e "terrain model" - but there is no user control on that export.

The Bentley Civil tools do have a method to create a Terrain Model from a Point Cloud. And these are good tools that allow for User control of the area of data that is used AND of the point filtering (decimation) method.

So, if the Point Cloud tool can import the ESRI ASC format, then the Civil teams can easily and controllably create a terrain model.

WMS Attachment not Working in CE

Good afternoon,

We have a couple of DGNs with the attached XWMS for reference (aerials and quad maps) and have been using it successfully with V8i for awhile now. When we try to attach those same DGNs in Connect Edition, it works within some DGNs, but not others. I can't find any common link between the files it works and the ones where it does not. When it does not work, it doesn't give me any errors, it just doesn't show up. Sometimes when the server isn't responding, it will at least show the outline of the image and I can zoom to extents with it filling the view. When it isn't working now, the outline doesn't show up and it will say no elements found when zooming to extents.

Any ideas?

Unable to isolate shapes in DWG multileader elements for changing background shape color of text different than arrowhead shape within an IPlot design scipt.

I have DWG files we are trying to plot with iCS PDF Renditions, within the DWG's are Mutlileader text labels. When these are opened by MicroStation they come in as cells name MULTILEADER. Within the cell are two shapes one for text background wipe area and an arrowhead. I am attempting to create a design script to change the fill on the text background shape to (255,255,255) and the arrowhead to (0,0,0). The issue is the text background shape fill_color coming from the DWG is NOT a number from the color table, it is set by an RGB value. I cannot perform a conditional IF selection on color or color_fill by RGB, so these shape elements shapes cannot be isolated in the design script to change the color. Is there any way to find elements by color with RGB values in an IPlot design script?

It there a keyin I can use to select Notes?

I can use PowerSelector keyins to almost create a selection of all text elements. Text, text nodes and dimensions are available. However, notes are not available so I cant select notes text as well. Is there any other keyin or macro that might be available to also select notes, or to select all text elements?
