I am running a structural analysis in a reinforced steel piperack.

Would you help me to find out which is the reason why I am getting non convergences?

For the full list of combinations I got 4 combinations with this issue. I turned them off all, and left the combination #3101 which has no lateral loads, only gravity load.

Just to mention, existing diagonals with slenderness > 200 were treated as tension members.

I appreciate if you have any tip/check list to find where is the issue for non convergence with tension members.

Thanks and regards.

I have a question regarding Wind definition if a member is defined with fireproofing in specification,

When I calculated the value of intensity to be applied in the member, I noticed that the loads derived was still from un-fireproofed width normal to the wind direction even though I already added a 50mm thickness and fireproofing type is block.

Is there anyway to consider the fireproofed members added thickness if I will be using Wind definition?

Thanks

Nodes coordinates being changed

Hi,

I´ve been working with the software Staad configured with 6 digits (joint coordinates significant figures = 6) . When I changed it to 7 digits, and saved an existing model with this change, I noticed that Staad has added non zero digits to the coordinates.

For example:

with 6 digits the coordinate was: 11106, 100.2, 11009

with the 7 digits change now the same node has coordinates: 11106.02, 100.2002, 11009.02

Does anybody know what is happening and how can I fix this?

Also I noticed differences between the coordinates that I read in the graphic space versus the ones in the Command file.

Apprecitate the assistance.

Regards,

I am new with Direct Analysis Method so I decided to run an example of a frame we saw in class with Staad Pro. The example in class was developed by a linear first order analysis with increased moments factors B1 and B2. Unfortunately, after running the DM in my model I didn’t get the same results. I really don’t know where is my mistake. But I noticed that the statics check for the combination of loads performed with DM does not verify equilibrium between loads and reactions. Can someone help me?

As an alternative to DM, I thought about running a P-Delta (small) analysis with reduced stiffness and notional loads. But how can I modify the elastic modulus E later on so as to check the code with the nominal modulus instead of the reduced? Is there anywhere in the parameters to define a new stiffness?

Thanks in advance. I attach the concerning model.
