After graduating in 1990 with a degree in Human Geography from the University of Utrecht, the Netherlands, Gijsbert moved to the University of Durham, UK; first as a post-graduate student, then as a research assistant in GIS.
Upon his return to the Netherlands, he left academia for the commercial world of GIS. To this date he has held a number of positions, including development, product marketing, project management and consultancy. His employers include Intergraph, ISIS (a Dutch geospatial systems integrator) and Bentley Systems.
Gijsbert specializes in the deployment of Geospatial products and solutions in complex, large scale environments.
