By education, I have backgrounds in Architecture and Computer Science. My career began as an Architect for the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) in Knoxville, Tennessee. While there, I obtained a graduate degree in Computer Science and started my involvement with CAD systems. Initially trained in the use of Intergraph's P/Arch software and system administration, after about 8 years with TVA, I changed employment.
My current (1989 to present) employment is with Savannah River Nuclear Solutions (SRNS) at the Savannah River Site (SRS), a US Department of Energy site in Aiken, South Carolina. I was initially involved with System Administration of Bentley's pre-cursor product to MicroStation, and developing maps and mapping tools for creating Environmental Compliance reports for both state and federal agencies.
Another internal move now has me in an Engineering Support group where I develop custom MicroStation tools for internal use by engineers, surveyors, and general users. I converted numerous User Commands to Macros, then converted those into MDL tools in V7, then to native apps in V8, and currently converting them to function in the CONNECT environment. I also provide backup support to our PDS users. Currently, we are also migrating from Intergraph's PDS suite to the newer Smart3D applications.
