Manual Edits to Cross Sections - What now?

We had typically made some manual edits to the cross sections which are no longer possible with ORD. An example of this would be trimming stone fill slopes where they impact a culvert (to sit on top of pipe), but now these manual edits are not possible. When our local DOT comments on these issues we are offering the blanket statement that in ORD this type of clarification edits are no longer possible. Is there an official answer or solution for these type situations or are we just tied to the output we are getting at this point?

How to show existing drainage/culverts dashed in cross sections?

We are using ORD version 2021 R2 for this project. Our DOT has requested that the existing drainage features be displayed in the cross sections with dashed and reduced weight lines. Is there a way to accomplish that? We have separate existing drainage, and proposed drainage design drawings which are referenced into the section drawing. I cannot determine a way to display the features as they've requested. One other point they are taking exception to is the display of skewed culverts in the sections which appear as parabolas. (confusing...what is that?!?) It used to be we could project forward and backward in the sections insuring all the drainage in the area is captured in the section. We now are left with no other option than to show everything as-is or not show drainage at all.

Wanted to make sure this isn't hidden somewhere I am not finding. The old tools used to Be under Reports, Create DTM input or the Create DTM Proposed 3D.

Point control not working over full area

I'm creating a corridor for a driveway because the civil cell provided by our DOT is inadequate. I'm using point control to get the proper width and the radius return. On one side it works fine, on the other it does not start at the first station resulting in a weird paving jump and a hole in the model because of it. See attached for visual. I've tried different geometric alignments, I've added key stations, I've redone it countless times to see if there was a bug or ghost and have gotten to the point I am out of ideas

Just want to create a 3d geometry line automatically (NOT BEST FIT)

I am trying to draw a 3d line in my corridor dgn file. I have the feature definition toolbar ON and turning create 3d automatically ON.

I am snapping to 2 points on my corridor, both of which have elevations.

The line that is created seems to be "best fit" but i don't want that. I want the line to have the 3d elevations of what I snapped to.

I have tried multiple ways to do this best i can not figure it out.

Please assist. Thank you in advanced.

I've been having an issue with the drawing tools where the origin is persistently set to the last location I clicked with any tool. Previously, exiting the tool would reset the origin to 0,0. Is there a way to restore the previous functionality?

Superelevation application changes pavement limits

Hello All,

The problem I'm having is when applying a superelevation using assign to corridor it changes my pavement limits but shows the slope correctly. This occurs with assigning the right lane to super from the CL to the RT EOP. See screenshot. Any help is appreciated.

OpenRoads Designer. Issue with Place Node command.

OpenRoads Designer CE 2021 Release 2 - 10.10.21.4

Issue 1:

If I create a sewer alignment using the Geometry>Complex Geometry>Complex by Element tool I must set the Sewer feature definition to active in level manager in order for the correct alignment graphic to display. Must I always set the feature definition to active before creating alignment?

Issue 2:

Generally, just having issues with placing nodes. Sometimes nodes do not appear when placed, but, If I open the conduit profile the node appears to be placed.

Any help would be appreciated.

When I use Place Smartline icon to try to draw a line in a Microstation project, I don't see any line being created. I see an X where I click but no line connecting points.

Good afternoon,

I am trying to help an end user, in Microstation v8i SS10 8.11.9.919

When I open a sheet, I try to draw a smartline in the sheet.

But I don't see any lines being created. I see the X marks the spot icon move around on the screen but nothing seems to draw a line.
The place line icon also doesn't do anything when I click on the drawing page.

I did a reinstall of the Microstation but this still doesn't work.

I went into the sheet in Power Geopak 8.11.9.918 and the smartline option comes up. I see a box around the point I click to make. Where as this doesn't work in Microstation.

Line draw again, works in Power Geopak but not MicroStation.

How to change the curve length in a complex alignment in Open Roads?

I have created an complex alignment using line between points and arc between elements tools. Now I want to adjust the curve length. There is no option in text manipulator or table editor for changing the curve length. How can I change the curve length in this complex alignment?

ORD 2021 R2 Template Controls - Template preview vs. modelled result

This question is a result of attempting to model daylighted subbase (where possible) so we would be interested if others have found methods to accomplish this.

Background:

We are attempting to create a roadway rehab template that is full width to avoid having component quantity reports that need to be summed across a number of corridors.

The template would have one full width subbase component that "daylights" at the end condition that is current (yes there are a few variables)

The problem is the template modeler and preview seems to provide a different result than what ends up in the model when applied.

We have been attempting to use tools we've seldomly utilized before such as a project to design component on a vector offset (at max cut depth say for concrete removal) that would daylight by terminating at the left or right end condition/component. The template modeler allows the use of this tool and terminates at the end condition currently being used, and the preview looks correct.

However, when the template is applied to the project the projected design component finds the closest end condition component option regardless of if it's active at that location. (Always the closest)

Do the templates need to be simplified to only have one end condition option in order for these tools to work properly?

Why is there a disconnect between the template modeler's depicted result and the actual modeled result and how can we rectify this?

Is there any better training on using the template control options...I haven't found anything on these more advanced options.

Cross section and profile sheet titleblock selection

Hi all,

Sorry if this question is answered elsewhere, but I did not see it.

While sheeting sections or current Vermont workspace references a titleblock drawing file located on a common server drive.

This results in a generic titleblock with corner card info that needs to be edited (every sheet).

The current workaround is to re-path the referenced titleblock (each sheet) to a project specific titleblock.

After doing this we can simply edit each sheet name, but all this can be very time consuming.

Question: Is there a way to specify the referenced titleblock file during sheeting of named boundaries rather than just having the seed file pull the generic one?

Unfortunately, we have similar issues with profiles, but there the titleblocks seem to be cells/blocks rather than referenced files.

Hopefully this can be fixed in the workspace to match the method used to sheet sections in the future also.
