Design Databases Heatlosses

Hi,

I am using design database for heatloss calculations for a student accommodation. I am querying the results of the heatloss calculations as it returning results of between 30-40 w/m2, when we would expect to see a heatloss of around 60-70 w/m2.

Below is the data that I am using.

Wall Height 2.7m

Partition Height 2.4m

Ceiling Void 0.2 m

Window 1m2

Building set in Edinburgh with design temp of -5

I am still awaiting U-values from the architect but as a default I have been using the maximum u-values for building elements from section 6.

Wall 0.27 w/m2K

Floor 0.22 w/m2k

Roof 0.2 w/m2k

Windows,doors, windows and roof lights 2.0 w/m2k.

The floor area of a typical room is 15m2 and the building is 2 storeys high, with exposed floors and roofs set up. Does 30-40 w/m2 appropriate using the values that I have used? I can submit the model if required.

Netsys Hot Water Pipe Sizing

I am trying to size a hot water system on Netsys. My brief requires me to have the return pipe work 2 sizes below the flow pipe size. I use the fix pipe option to fix the return pipes accordingly.

I have used floor change connectors to pass up through the floors. The system is all connected fine, but the system will not allow me to change the size of the pipework between the ceiling void height of the first flow and the space between the second floor slab.

My ceiling void height on the first floor is 2.6m high, the height of the 2nd floor FFL is 3.69m. The pipe is set up to go from the ceiling void height then on special to 3.69m at this point a floor change connector is placed on top at 3.69m for the first floor and the height set for 0m on the 2nd floor level. I then connect a special at 0m which then rises to the ceiling void height.

Section 53 is coming up from the ground floor

The size of the F & R are 160 and 108

Section 64 is feeding the first floor coming from the riser.

Section 65 F & R are 133 and 28 the return requires to be 76mm (This section rises from the first floor ceiling void height to the height of the 2nd floor slab).

Section 76 Rises F & R are 133 and 76 this section rises from the second floor slab height of 0m to the second floor ceiling void height.

Section 65 is the section I am unable to change.

DDB Hostel Rooms reverting to 24/7 Bedroom

I am trying to set up a model for a care home. When setting up the room type for a hostel/ nursing home the rooms are reverting to 24/7 Bedrooms. I have tried to up date the file using the information from http://communities.bentley.com/products/building/performance/w/building_performance__wiki/12119.hostel-room-types-reverting-to-24x7-bedroom-after-definition.

When I copy over the unzipped file to the HEVADATA folder it comes up with an error and will not copy over.

The Version of Hevacomp that my company are running is 25.06.9. the version required for the update is 25.06.15. My system administrator tells me that we have service pack 29 installed.

Anybody any ideas for what I can do?
