"Try again, unable to lock file" error message when attempting to access an ALG file.

I have come across an issue while working in InRoads SELECTseries 2, V08.11.07.615. (My coworkers are all on InRoads SELECTseries 2, V08.11.07.492) I can no longer access a project's ALG file. Initially, I had no issue accessing the file with the RWK (or with manually opening the ALG file). I crashed sometime two days ago and ever since then I've been unable to access the file. Right before the crash, I was attempting to "check out" the alignment(s) and Cogo buffer. (We have our XIN file set up to allow "Read-Only" access when opening the ALG file(s)).

After the crash, I attempted to access the ALG file and it will not open. It provides me with the error message "Try again, unable to lock file". I then deleted the LCK file that was found in the directory but it did not help. I even attempted to give myself Read-Write access to the directory (since it shown "highlighted" as Read-Only) but that did not work either.

Other users in the same office are able to access the ALG file for this project and I'm able to access other ALG files for the same project but just not this one. What is an "NLF" file? That is the only other file in the directory that I haven't touched.

As of right now, I've been working with the ALG file from my Desktop and will update the one in the project folder when I'm finished with my changes.

Raster Images missing after changing MSTN's User/Project directories

Need help troubleshooting why my Raster images are missing from display after I changed my config file directories.

Reference files remain intact but my Raster images show to be "not found" (in red). I was told that I should not try to re-path the files since it should automatically update this path since the files were copied over from one directory to the other with the same hierarchy.

Any information would be helpful!

How can I delete an old account?

Somehow I have 3 accounts with my name (all my accounts) and I can't access older accounts to delete or use them. I forgot my password and asked for a reset and it created a new account instead of accessing an old account.

Single Offset Entire Element command does not offset correctly

Problem:

When running the command Single Offset Entire Element on a Complex Alignment, it does not always offset properly. Some elements are offset to the right while the others are to the left. See picture below for example.

The green line in this picture is the Offset alignment.

Explanation:

It appears in this situation, the alignment was complexed incorrectly.

Solution:

Run the Remove Rules command under General Geometry
Recreate the Rule with the Complex By Element command.
Verify that the arrows are pointing in the correct direction when selecting the elements: Notice the arrow is pointing in the opposite direction. In this example, the arrow is pointing in the proper direction.
Rerun the Single Offset Entire Element command and the results should appear correct.

Text Is Missing From Plan When Adding Horizontal Event Points

When creating new Horizontal Event Points, InRoads does not place annotation in plan view once the point is created.

Background

InRoads will not place text in plan view when event points are created. The command Horizontal Annotation will display the points with the specific style specified in the command options.

How To

Create Horizontal Event points with the command located under Geometry > Horizontal Curve Set > Events
Once the event points are created, the Horizontal Annotation command can be found under Geometry > View Geometry > Hoizontal Annotation
The Hoizontal Alingment that was set active when generating the event points must be defined under Include/Selected (If this alignment is not selected, the event points will not display/annotate)
Toggle on Display Points then select Event Points
Toggle on Annotate Points
The Style can be adjusted by the Apply Style options: Assigned option will pull the style from the Event Point itself while the Active option will pull the style from the Styles tab of the Horizontal Events command

Yes, as long as the Pay Items are defined on an element, they will be computed in quantities. (regardless if they are in a reference file or the working DGN file)

Can Pay Items be assigned to graphics that are in a reference file?

No, the Pay Items must be defined on the elements/features in the working DGN file.

Does Quantity Manager calculate quantities planarized or on a slope if the graphics/features are plotted in 3D?

It depends on what the Pay Item is set as. There is a setting in each Pay Item that allows the either of the two different options. Under the Measurement section of the Pay Item dialog, there is a Mode option that allows the user to select which way the quantity will be calculated.
