I retired in January 2022. I continue to use Microstation for private purposes and development of 3D models for artwork or 3d printing purposes.
I began working with CAD in 1983. I joined a company called PSI in Pittsburg, Kansas. I worked as a product demonstator for this company until 1985. During the course of my employment I went to several trade shows and saw the Intergraph system. I was impressed and decided to go to work for any company using this system. I went to work for a company called Midwest Engineering in Canal Winchester, Ohio in 1985 and began working with the Intergraph software. I remained there until 1987, then went to a furniture company, Thomas W. Ruff, Co. and continued to work with the Intergraph software. In 1988 I joined Stilson & Associates, later to be know as DLZ. Their main platform was AutoCad and I became very proficient on that but still wanted to use the Intergraph software. My chance to do that came when Microstation entered the market. Though not the main platform of production there were projects that needed to be delivered in DGN format. I worked there until 1996, took off time from the industry to help my parents sell their business and retire then went to work for HONDA Research & Develpoment, Facilities Department. There I was albe to finally emerse myself in the Microstation environment. I worked there until February of 2007. I then joined Varo Engineers, Inc, later to merge with Salas O'Brien where I worked on electrical projects for Generation Plants and later on Substation projects, both Brownfied and Greenfield installations, until my retirement in January 2022. I was involved in the Microstation maintenance and in house development of VBA routines and other management issues related to the program deployment and user support within the company.
