I having a experience when i change length of my member in Staad Physical modeller the load assign in that member does not update, I do not know if it is really like that.

Hi,

Is there any guidance or a preferred workflow for designing Special Concentric Braced Frames using RSS? Specifically I was wondering if RAM has built-in functionality to check the effects of compression brace buckling, or if it's preferred to export to a program like Elements that can model springs or perform a pushover analysis.

Ram Elements Library no Registered

I am using Ram Elements Version 16 Update 2 (16.02.00.88) 64 bit on Windows 10 Pro with latest updates.

When I try and execute an analysis, I get a Library Not Registered Error.

This even happens with older models that used to run fine.

This only happens with Ram Elements and does not happen with other programs in my Structural Enterprise License.

Has anyone else had this problem?

How is it fixed?

Load Case Numbers in Physical Modeler vs. Analytical Model

If you edit a load title in physical modeler, it will be renumbered in the analytical model.

For example, if load case 1 title in the physical modeler is "dead load" and you edit that title to say "dead loading", then what was load case 1 in the modeler will be assigned the next number in the analytical side.

If you had 1 to 5 cases and 1 to 5 combinations in modeler, load case 1 will now be 11 in the analytical side. If you edit again, it will become 12.

Is there a way to maintain the load case and combination numbers between modeler and analytical?

Ram Elements importing S2K file from Sap 2000

When trying to import an S2K file from SAP 2000 into Ram Elements I get the following error messages (see screen shot below).

They all relate to "an item with ID "X" referenced by table COMBINATION DEFINITIONS does not exist in LOAD CASE DEFINITIONS".

This is in RAM Elements 13.3.0.117. The S2K file is from SAP 2000 version 16.

Is there a way to fix this or do something in the SAP model before exporting?

Pedestal design for mat foundations in Staad Foundation Advanced Version 8.4.1.24

What is the procedure or settings to design pedestals on a mat foundation in Staad Foundation Advanced.

I have all the columns set to consider as pedestal in the data input pane.

In the slab designer form the reinforcement size options for pedestals are grayed out. Why?

On the calculation sheet there is a heading for pedestal design calculations, but the pedestal reinforcement design results are blank. Why?

Edit loads in Staad Physical Modeler

How do you edit loads that have been previously applied in Staad Physical Modeler?

For example, highlighted in the display are all the members and LC:Wind +Z is displayed.

The Spreadsheet: Member Distributed is blank.

If I change the display to roof live or dead load only about 25% of the members with loads show in the spreadsheet.

Also, if you lengthen a member the load does not lengthen with it and there appears to be no way to edit it.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Ram Elements Uniform Member Load Offset from Center of a Beam

Is there a way to offset a member load from the center of the member such that it causes torsion in the member? A wide brick ledge could apply this type of load.

A work-around may be to add a node every foot or so and add a moment with a vertical load at the nodes. However, adding the moments get complicated when you have beams turned at weird angles.

Missing RAMEURO steel table in Ram Structural System

My installation of Ram Structural System 15.05.00.41 is missing the RAMEURO.tab master steel table.

It is shown in the Ram Manual. How do I obtain and install the RAMEURO.tab Master Steel Table.

Why is it missing?
