Survey Point "Decorations" written to graphics

I have my survey points displayed in the "live" survey drawing showing Point Number, Elevation, Description, Notes.

Now I need to create graphics of these for every point in my drawing (and future drawings).

i have watched a video showing the creation of some graphics for one Control Point which appears to hard-wire the code, N, E, EL.

This is probably where I need to be going with this, but the example is for one control point and different pieces.

I am on Projectwise, and boot my drawing such that the state created "things" appear, sort of replicating the many "things" that were shown in the video.

There appears to be an Annotation Group Plan/Point/Survey/ "All Points Label" which sounds like a thing that might create labels for all the points?

There is also an Annotation Definition Plan/Point/ "Survey Topo Point Label" which sounds like a thing that might create labels for all the points?

Then I find an Element Template with Survey Features and a thing called "Survey Topo Label" which sounds like a thing that might create labels for all the points?

Then I find a Text Favorite called "Survey Topo Point Label" which looks like a hard-wired Code, N, E, EL for one specific point from some survey by the state.

So now that I'm totally confused by all these things, I'd like to be able to somehow get a graphic replica of the "Decorations" of my points (all the points) from my 'live" drawing.

Somehow it seems that Text Favorite needs to be generalized to write out the Point Number, Elevation, description, notes for any/all points imported to the drawing.

Seeing that the state has done some of the setup for this, I'd like to understand how all the "things" need to be (pointing to the next thing) but somehow get the pieces of the "decorations" applied as graphics.

Attached is a screen shot of the many "things" that maybe point to each other and maybe get close to this end, but I'm looking for labels for all the points, not just one "EOGRVL" point from some survey.

Is it even possible in ORD to get graphics for all points from a survey?

ORD Raster Manager TIF has White color outside Actual Ortho image

I have a series of Ortho Images for a corridor which have a white color outside the boundary of the actual Topo area.

I'd like to change this to black to match my screen background.

Is there a way of doing this without creating clip boundaries?

I imagine not as some of the actual topo pixels will be white?

Is my best option getting the images changed by the Aerial LiDAR company to a black background?

Point Labels (Decorators) in ORD as Committed graphics

I have completed the migration of my SS4 style manager descriptor Codes to ORD.

Within the style Manager, I "HAD" Custom Operations which placed a graphic of the Point Number, elevation, Description and Notes.

The Custom Operations insured I had a standard symbol for every point, along with the text (lets call it a point Block.).

Each of these was placed on a level for each group of points. Perfect, for when the Survey Fieldbook was finally committed to graphics for delivery.

Now in ORD, my huge effort to create all these custom operations appears to be gone. Wow.

I see how the active Decorators are turned on and off, but once I commit the data to graphics, the decorators are gone.

How do I retrieve all my Custom Operations or at least create a generic point block for every point that remains as graphics upon committing?

If I can't separate the point blocks to different levels (with different colors on the symbol) I'll have to live with that.

I've watched some video about point annotation but this seems to create annotation for one point whereas I need these on all points.

I don't understand how ORD expects to apply the point block to each point? As graphics, not some Decorations.

Where are my Custom Operations ???

Extracting a Terrain Boundary to a linestring in ORD

Hi,

I have a Terrain Surface which has a boundary.

I'd like to Extract the Boundary to a Linestring then edit the Linestring into 3 boundaries to reduce the size of the DTM.

I have seen cryptic descriptions of using a Mesh and the extract Boundary Tool for a Mesh.

I don't have a Mesh, and my drawing is too large to replicate the DTM as some sort of Mesh (whatever that is).

I'd simply like to extract the boundary as a linestring straight from my DTM surface (Terrain).

Is this possible in ORD without going through some sort of mesh creation, mesh "top" thingy that some have eluded to.

This was possible in InRoads using the Extract 3-D feature (or something like that).

CUSTOM OPERATIONS IN SS4 MIGRATE TO CONNECT?

I am going through the Migrate steps to import my XIN file from SS4 into Connect.

I have followed all the steps and it appears my Survey Codes did come over but...

I had created Custom Operations for every Code which placed a symbol, point number, elevation, description, and notes.

Where are these Custom Operations in Connect?

How can I review, modify, add Custom Operations?

How can I add a new Survey Code when we need one?

scaling or replacing SS4 Lines and line strings in ORD

I have copied an SS4 Topo drawing into an ORD Seed file from the state DOT.

The scale of cells and linestyles is now whacked.

I used replace cells to gradually replace all the cells with the cells from the new ORD cell library.

How do I go about replacing / modifying / scaling all the lines and line strings (linestyles) in the ORD drawing?

Why are all the lines and line strings suddenly acting differently in ORD than SS4?

ORD - Custom Linestyles Scaling Issue

I am trying to set up our office standards for ORD. I have migrated levels, element templates, etc. I am having issues with my custom linestyles displaying 1000 times too large in ORD. Could this be a UOR issue with the new ORD UORs set at 10000 per survey foot, and my legacy files were at 1000 per survey foot?

After Installing ProjectWise, cannot access Descriptor file XIN within SS4

I have a very complete XIN Descriptor file with hundreds of Survey Codes, and even Custom Operations.

I recently had ProjectWise Installed for use with one client. I have been using SS4, and am trying to make the migration to Connect for that Client.

I also have numerous other XIN files developed for other clients. Now when I boot SS4 to view my XIN file, it is blank in the Style manager. In fact all my XIN files appear blank.

It appears ProjectWise is somehow keeping me from seeing these XIN files. Do I need to un-install ProjectWise?

How can one work in SS4 for other clients, if I can't load my XIN descriptor files. I don't need ProjectWise for numerous clients but now it appears to boot even if I boot only SS4.

There has to be a way of working in SS4 without ProjectWise. Why are my numerous XIN files no longer able to open in the InRoads Style Manager?

The first task your video on migration describes is looking at the XIN file in the Style Manager. I know they are complete, even the size of the Xin files is correct.

How to "Write Survey Data to Graphics" using OpenRoads SS3 ???

In old InRoads, once you were happy with your survey data and wanted to make everything part of a drawing

you used "Write to graphics" and all the points, lines and symbols became permanent.

In OpenRoads SS3 I am trying to do the same thing without using old InRoads commands.

How is this done?

I have set a Variable "CIVIL_SURVEY_STRIP_OPTION" = 2

This seems to work, however it requires closing the drawing and re-opening to be prompted to "STRIP" the data to graphics.

I'm sure there must be a more direct method, without using old InRoads commands ???

Contours won't smooth using spline with a template. OpenRoads. Created from lines (as breaklines).

Cannot get contours to smooth. Changing edge method triangle size shows contours outside the original will smooth, but not inside.

WHY DO POINTS DISAPPEAR OFF THE SCREEN AFTER CREATION OF TERRAIN SURFACE USING "SPOT"

POINTS DISAPPEAR OFF LEVEL AFTER CREATION OF TERRAIN SURFACE USING GRAPHICAL ELEMENTS "SPOT"

THEY ARE ON THE SCREEN, ON A LEVEL, THEN AFTER SELECTION AND CREATE FROM GRAPHICAL ELEMENTS, THEY DISAPPEAR.
I TURN ON ALL LEVELS, BUT THE POINTS ARE GONE. I DO AN UNDO AND THEY ARE BACK.

TERRAIN MODEL EDITS NOT HELD

I have a Terrain Model created from multiple Fieldbooks and appended using the "Create Complex".

I've managed to delete all the pieces of DTM's from each day, and have the one final DTM.

I have made several edits, like deleting triangles along the edge and adding some features.

I played with the Contour interval to locate rod busts.

Certain editing commands, or maybe toggling on and off triangles have caused my edits to revert.

I have no more Fieldbooks, they have been "STRIPED", yet my edits are not always being held.

Why?

Should I export to Land XML and re-import, then work on this surface?

I have toggled the "de-activate rules" back and forth to see if this is the problem.

Are my edits becoming "rules".

I can't find any video or help on this problem.

OpenRoads - Contour Labels move along contours when zooming, why ???

I am using SS3 and an Element template to label contours. I'm using a Masked text style, the drawing uses annotation.

When I zoom in and out, the text moves along the contours as if placement is based on the zoomed view.

How can I fix the labels along the contours?
