ProjectWise V8i (SELECTseries 4) Integration Module for Microsoft Office 2013

We have released support for Microsoft Office 2013 for ProjectWise. This is being delivered as an Integration Module “add-in” that can be installed on top of existing ProjectWise Explorer V8i (SELECTseries 4) installations. Below I have included the download description from SELECT Downloads with some additional information. The ProjectWise Explorer version 08.11.11.574 or later is required for this integration.

ProjectWise is software for connecting people and information across distributed teams and is used by architects and engineers to manage, find, and share CAD and geospatial content, project data, and Office documents. ProjectWise Integration Server is an enterprise-level engineering content management solution.

The ProjectWise V8i (SELECTseries 4) Integration Module for Office 2013 download contains the installation package needed to integrate Microsoft Office 2013 (64-bit and 32-bit) with ProjectWise Explorer V8i (SELECTseries 4). The ProjectWise V8i (SELECTseries 4) Integration Module for Office 2013 provides the following capabilities:

- Word
- Excel
- Outlook
- PowerPoint
- Visio
- Project

Windows 7
Windows 8 (32-bit Office only)
Windows Server 2008 R2
Windows Server 2012 (32-bit Office only)

Notes:

This integration module delivers ProjectWise integration support for Microsoft Office 2013 applications - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio, and Project. Users can expect the same level of ProjectWise integration with Office 2013 applications as they had with Office 2010 applications, except where noted here.

Having earlier versions of Office applications installed may interfere with Office 2013 integration, depending on the combination of applications installed.

Supported combinations:

Word 2013, Excel 2013, Outlook 2013, or PowerPoint 2013 installed next to a pre-2013 version of Visio or Project (for example, Word 2013 and Visio 2007)

Visio 2013 or Project 2013 installed next to a pre-2013 version of Word, Excel, Outlook, or PowerPoint (for example, Project 2013 and PowerPoint 2010)

Unsupported combinations:

Any Office 2013 application installed next to a pre-2013 version of the same application (for example, Word 2013 and Word 2007)

Word 2013, Excel 2013, Outlook 2013, or PowerPoint 2013 installed next to a pre-2013 version of Word, Excel, Outlook, or PowerPoint (for example, Word 2013 and Excel 2010)

Captive environment is not supported for Office 2013.

In all Office 2013 applications, the File > Export > Change File Type command (File > Export > Save Project As File in Microsoft Project) is not integrated. (Outlook does not have this command.)

In Outlook 2013, the following integrated commands are not working correctly and should be avoided:

Send To > Mail Recipient

Send To > Mail Recipient As Link

In Excel 2013, using the Insert > Object command on the ProjectWise tab may cause Excel to freeze or crash. Uninstalling or disabling Excel's Solver add-in will reduce the occurrence of this issue but may not prevent it in all cases.

In PowerPoint 2013 and Project 2013, exiting the application when a new document needs to be created will require you to manually close the application after the new document is created.

No additional help document is provided with this integration module; you can continue to use the ProjectWise Explorer help document delivered with ProjectWise Explorer V8i (SELECTseries 4).
