I still get a warning message.

Hi,

I am setting up a new file on ConceptStation. When using GeoCoordination Services an error message occurs, "An error occured: USER is not affiliated to an organization in IMS.."

This is for educational purposes and I have a 1 year account to use this software through my university.

How to fix the 3SM terrain that has been vertically offset when upgraded to ConceptStation U13

Question:

I upgraded to OpenRoads ConceptStation version 10.00.13.36. When I open my dgndb that was created in the previous version in this 10.00.13.36 version, my terrain or 3sm file shifts vertically around 40-100 units up. How do I fix this?

Answer for 10.0.14 and newer

1. Open the DgnDb file

2. Go to the Information page of your project, this is the second to last entry accessible from the left backstage menu

3. Use the Terrain Vertical Datum dropdown box to change the value from "Geoid" to "Ellipsoid" and then hit the Save icon

Answer for version 10.0.13.36:

Before beginning, make a backup copy of your .3sm file. The workaround is to download/install the DB browser for SQLite and edit the GCS text.

Launch the DB browser for SQLite

Go to File > Open database and open the .3sm file

Go to the Browse Data tab

See the red arrows in the screen capture below

Change to view the Table SMMasterHeader
Click on the GCS column text
On the left, replace the text as below
1. From
  
  VERT_CS["Generic Geoid",VERT_DATUM["Generic Vertical Datum",2005]
  
  To
  
  VERT_CS["Ellipsoid Height",VERT_DATUM["Ellipsoid",2002]
Click Apply.
File > Save All. Close program.
Reopen the DgnDb with ConceptStation and verify that the elevation of the 3sm is corrected.

ConceptStation - level of accuracy between USGS low, medium and high level terrain data from Geocoordination services

Hello,

I am looking to verify the accuracy of the various resolution options (low, medium and high) for the terrain data that ConceptStation can import from it's geocoordination services (within the US).

From what I understand, the data is pulled from from USGS. Does geocoordination services filter terrain data between each resolution option (low, medium, and high) at a set percentage and if so what is that value used? If not, what is the quantifiable differentiating factor between each resolution status?

Also, is there information available on the overall level of accuracy of the terrain imported from USGS and any specifics on how that data was collected?

OpenRoads Conception GeoCoordination Service Error

I am trying to use OpenRoads Conception but every time i am using it it comes up with "An error occurred: GeoCoordination Services unreachable." Anyone know how to fix this?

ConceptStation - Infield Grading

I'm modeling a Diverging Diamond Interchange in ConceptStation and was wondering about how to grade the infield areas. I've tried to place end conditions on my templates but it produces undesirable results (grading slope through the opposite retaining wall - even after Resolving Grading). I thought the Place Surface Area tool would work but it ties it to the existing terrain. It'd be great if there was a tool within ConceptStation where I could 'flood' the infield area, but I'm not sure there is one. The only thing I'm thinking is to export to Connect and model the infield areas then import them back in. Though painful, I'm sure it would probably work, but pretty sure the earthwork quantity would not be captured in a Cost Estimate. Help please.

Also, still looking for a Bentley Contact (earlier post) or other advanced user to discuss ConceptStation a bit more in depth

Itwin Ad Hoc Review - Openroads Terrain not visible

My terrain model is one with 400k triangles/points so I should not need Reality Data. No matter how I try I can't seem to get the terrain into Itwin Review. I wish to review my profiles and cross sections dynamicaly into the Ad-Hoc Review but also want to see my terrain model.

Does Anybody know how to get the terrain model into the program? Or is it just something that is not working?

OpenRoads ConceptStation Free Trial - Unable to contact CONNECT server

I downloaded ConceptStation and am trying to give it a try. When I try to access GeoCoordination Services, I get an error stating, "Unable to contact CONNECT server". Then it bounces me out of the tab.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Hi,

I'm working with OpenRoads Concept Station in many projects.

Some days ago I met a problem due, I suppose, to the last software update.

Before the software update, I've made a model and everything was working good.

Now the software is in its latest version, then I must upgrade any existing model in order to open it. The problem is that my terrain (or all my roads design) elevation has been moved without having done anything...

I tried to open those models that were good in the previous version from another computer where the software has not been updated but as you already know it is not possible if the model has been upgraded...

Is there any solution to fix this problem?

I see that OpenRoads/OpenRail ConceptStation was recently updated to 10.00.13.39 - does any one know what is different from the previous Update 13 release back in January?
