When merging reference files in Microstation you are presented with a couple of options before doing a data point to accept the reference file/s to merge;

I would like to merge my reference files with the option to "Allow Optimized Clipping" on at all times so that I can use the REFERENCE MERGE keyin in a batch process. There appears to be no option in the keyin or configuration to maintain this setting. If I do a File>Save Settings and return to Microstation the setting is always off. Is there any setting, configuration variable or keyin I can use to maintain this setting in a batch process that includes merging reference files?

Text, text nodes and dimensions are available. However, notes and tags are not available so I therefore can not form a keyin script to select notes and tag text as well. Notes and tags are available using the Element Selection tool, however these do not come with keyins like the Select By Attributes dialog. The following example shows available keyins in green, along with the unavailable ones I would like to have in red;

SELECTBY TYPE TEXT
SELECTBY TYPE TEXTNODE
SELECTBY TYPE DIMENSION
SELECTBY TYPE NOTES
SELECTBY TYPE TAGS

I would find these additional operations very usefull for batch and button processes that need to select all types of text for operations such as bringing to front and moving text and note elements to specific levels.

Good Idea!

Receive 10 upvotes for an idea

What If...

Share an idea with the community

User adding own dgnlib cuts out existing menu customisations?

As a user entering a new workplace/workspace I am wanting to add my own dgnlib containing MenuBar customisations. I can do this by either using the Workspace>Customize menu and appending my dgnlib or manually entering it into the ucf file such that it has a line reading;

MS_DGNLIBLIST > C:/User/User.dgnlib

This works and I can see my new MenuBar customizations, but I then find that the existing company MenuBar customizations (Menus) have dissappeared. I would have thought that simply using append(or >) rather than the "=" operator would avoid this scenario but it doesn't so I must be missing something?

Using Descartes to extract vector outline of raster data?

Bentley Descartes 08.11.09.601

I often have rasters representing sonar data that look something like this;

What I would like to do is extract an outline polygon of the area containing the actual data in the red hue. Can anyone suggest a tool or workflow that I could use to get this done? At the moment I am just digitizing the outline which is time consuming and not highly accurate.

Thanks.

I am very new to Descartes, the version I have is SS5, I have point cloud data of a railway cutting with a tunnel and I'm attempting to drape an element on to the surface. The thing is I have been given all of the point cloud data on one level and cannot separate out the vegetation. Hence when I drape I get tree lines mixed with terrain.

My question is can I drape from underneath to get the profile of the ground?

All the best,

Is there any way to find the number of points in a classification? As far as I can tell I would have to export the classification and then bring it back as a single pod file to find the number of points? I am trying to quantify my classifications and there are many of them so it would be nice to be able to find the number of points without having hundreds of point files in order to do so.

Thanks,

I'm working with reference files and it seems as though when you reference another model containing an STM it can not be turned off in the reference tree. How can I turn off the display of an STM when referencing a model that contains one?
