I found something strange about the extreme wind analysis executed by SACS.

Sample 12 provided an example of extreme wind analysis by using spectral approach and automatic combined the wind extreme value with static result.

The combination process between static and extreme wind response is integrated with STCMB which suppose to be "PRSC &PRST" by default similar to response spectrum analysis.

However, I did a manual combination by using combine module which is expected to get the same result. Unfortunately, the different results are found.

The top picture is the output provided by sample 12 for DIRECTION 0 only. This is original process suggested by Bentley.

The middle picture is the result of manual combine by using "PRSC &PRST".

You can see the different in result between the top and the middle picture which is expected to be the same.

Then, I did a test run with manual combination using LIN option.

It is surprisingly found that the results from LIN option are very similar to Sample 12....which should not be....

The results from spectral analysis is positive definite. Then, we should swap the sign convention when they are combined with static result i.e. like "PRSC &PRST" option.

Can Bentley check about the combination option for extreme wind analysis with STCMB option?

Regards,

Max base shear equals 10997 kN wave height 17.131 m >> 10997/17.131 = 640 i.e. >> does not match 1268 the plot.

Can we separate those information i.e. not contain the same sacs inputfile similar to seainp?

For Seastate information, we can provide additional seastate information in the seainp and put File B to merge both information provided in the sacinp and seainp.

Can we do the same for model information i.e member group, member section?

Fex,

In the picture, the left hand side is the main model i.e. sacinp contains most of the model information. The right hand side is the additional model information which we need to incorporate in the model before start to execute the analysis.

I noticed that seainp file has option to add GRUP and MEMBER command, however, it will not be added to the main model input file. It will override all information in the main input file which is not my intention.

I would like all information are merged before start to analyze the problem.

I am curious about the wind spectral analysis concept using in SACS.

In general, we should have Aerodynamic Admittance which is taken into account effect of gust disturbance due to the size of structure.

However, I did not see anything mentioned about Aerodynamic Admittance in the Dynamic Response Manual.

Moreover, for the actual procedure to perform Wind Spectral analysis by SACS, we are never asked by SACS to provide this effect.
