Wondering if there is any way to remove individual annotation groups from the cross sections? I originally annotated all drawing models with EAV and have ultimately decided I wanted to remove it. We can add individual annotation groups to all drawing models but I don't see a way to remove individual groups, only remove all groups at once. Does anyone have a workaround for this?

Multiple DOT's and USACE

Hello,

I have multiple workspaces that I am trying to configure. I am locating all files on the file server. I have USACE set-up currently in my configuration file and it is working great. However, I am trying to set up IDOT right now and I cannot add it to the configuration file as it seems to only select the last custom configuration input into this file. Is there any way I can do multiple configuration files via a shortcut for Open Roads maybe? Or can I have more than one custom configuration in the configuration file?

My current configuration file is in the following location: C:\ProgramData\Bentley\OpenRoads Designer CE 10.10\Configuration\ConfigurationSetup.cfg

The file is written see below for USACE and it works great:

[General]
_USTN_USER_CONFIGURATION_LABEL=
_USTN_CUSTOM_CONFIGURATION=

[SetConfiguration]
%if !defined (_USTN_USER_CONFIGURATION)
%if defined (_USTN_CUSTOM_CONFIGURATION) && ($(_USTN_CUSTOM_CONFIGURATION) != "") && exists ($(_USTN_CUSTOM_CONFIGURATION))
_USTN_CONFIGURATION = $(_USTN_INSTALLED_CONFIGURATION)
%endif
%endif

[General]
_USTN_CUSTOM_CONFIGURATION = I:/CADD/USACE-Bentley/USACE OneConfig 3_3_06/AEC_WS/ConfigurationAEC/

[SetConfiguration]
%if !defined (_USTN_USER_CONFIGURATION)
%if defined (_USTN_CUSTOM_CONFIGURATION) && ($(_USTN_CUSTOM_CONFIGURATION) != "") && exists ($(_USTN_CUSTOM_CONFIGURATION))
%endif
%endif

I would like to add config for IDOT next which is:

_USTN_CUSTOM_CONFIGURATION= I:/CADD/IDOT ORD/IDOTCAD_ORD/Configuration/
_USTN_CONFIGURATION = $(_USTN_INSTALLED_CONFIGURATION)

%if !defined (_USTN_USER_CONFIGURATION)
%if defined (_USTN_CUSTOM_CONFIGURATION) && ($(_USTN_CUSTOM_CONFIGURATION) != "") && exists ($(_USTN_CUSTOM_CONFIGURATION))
%endif
%endif

I just need to get IDOT and IOWA into config now whether I do a shortcut or if I can add into this config somehow.

Any help would be great,

Thanks Eric

Is it possible to hatch a closed mesh in cross section drawing - similar to hatching a component?

Running ORD 2021 R1.

I have created a closed mesh for select fill and referenced it into my cross section container file. I am trying to see if it would be possible to hatch the area inside the closed mesh in the drawing model, similarly to how components are hatched in this video: https://communities.bentley.com/products/road___site_design/w/road_and_site_design__wiki/52655/video-hatching-components-in-cross-section. I tested this on a simple component, and it worked. I then tried applying an element template with hatch properties to the closed mesh, but no hatch appeared in my cross section.

Does anyone know of a way to accomplish this hatching? I think my other option is to pattern by points in each and every one of my hundreds of cross-section drawing models...

Thank you,

I have a set of about 400 cross section .dgn's containing about 500 cross section drawing models and sheet models created with OpenRoads. I would like to create a batch process to run OpenRoads' Annotate Drawing Model command on all of the drawing models.

If I add files to the batch, and leave "All Models" selected in the list (see screenshot 1), and then run the batch process, I get a notification that I have to click through ("Unable to run command in Sheet or Drawing Model" - this is due to the program trying to execute "Annotate Drawing Model" in the sheet model of each file). This means I would have to babysit the process and click through the notifications for about 6+ hours.

I have worked around this by selecting drawing models from the list, and then attaching the files again for each drawing model (i.e. If a dgn has 3 drawing models, I add it to the list 3 times.) I have created my list, and it worked before fine. However, the .bprc file I did that in was accidentally overwritten.

Rather than take the time to set that file up again, going through the arduous task of making sure I haven't forgotten any of the 500+ drawing models...

I am wondering if there is a way to write into the command file some function that would force only the drawing models within each dgn to be processed.

Or another creative solution?

Thanks,

I have a spreadsheet that requires the drainage areas for a ditch to be input every 50 feet right and left along an alignment. The “manual” method I would use to accomplish this would be to use the measure area by flood tool and type the areas in to my spreadsheet as I measure them. However, as my alignment is nearly 5 miles long, and there are multiple areas for each station range left and right (pavement, inside construction limits, outside construction limits, this would require measuring nearly 3000 areas and inputting them manually. This is an insanely laborious process, and if anything in my design changes, I’d have to go back and measure them all over again.

Upon thinking of how to speed up this task, I thought I might create a region for each area, then label with a text favorite for region area. Then I’d have an area label that is documented in the DGN and updates if the areas change. I’d label every associative region in a batch process, then go back and input them in to my spreadsheet as I read the labels. This seems like an improvement, but is still laborious.

I then discovered that I could create a Report that lists the areas of all associative regions in the model. This seems like it could speed things up significantly, especially since I could export it to a .csv. However, I am not sure if I’d be able to tell what station range each area was associated with.

I know I could separate the areas by type (pavement, inside construction limits, outside construction limits) by placing the regions on respective levels I create.

Is there a way to add a column in the report that shows the station range that the areas correspond to, as well as if it is right or left?

Ask A Question I

Ask a question in a forum.
