RAM Foundation below Shear Wall

Hello,

I am looking into Design of Continuous foundation wall below Shear wall in G+2 Story Structure.

The Shear wall has a Multi Purpose,

1. It is resisting an Earth Pressure of a height 20 ft. (As a basement wall).

2. It is also considered as a lateral force resisting system.

I am trying to design a continuous footing for this wall in RAM Foundation, but I cannot assign a specific Fixity I require at Wall base.

Lets say I want to look at two scenarios:

1. The Wall is Fixed at base

2. The Wall is pinned at base (In minor direction) (In construction can be achieved by not extending dowels in footing pad)

Can I assign a fixity at the base of the wall in any of the Modules of RAM?

RAM Foundation to RAM concept for combine footing

Hello All,

I am currently looking into designing a foundation of the shear wall which is at the basement level and at the end of the wall there are two gravity columns.

My intention at the end is to pick those gravity columns in the foundation of the shear wall to have a combined footing.

I designed individual foundation for Shear wall and Gravity columns in RAM foundation, but now I want to combine them and see how things move forward from here.

The option I was able to establish was using RAM concept for designing a combined footing.

While transferring the RAM SS file to RAM concept I am having some trouble.

I first tried using RAM concept > Import from RAM SS file.

but when I am importing a file it shows only few foundations i.e. just Shear wall and not gravity column foundations.

Good thing I tried making ISM repository of RAM SS and imported into RAM concept and I was able to see all foundations, but RAM concept just allows a story to be imported.
Cant I import the entire structure using repository? if yes how? I tried importing another story after importing one, but gives some error.

The best option here would be If I can transfer the entire RAM SS model to the RAM concept.

I am wondering if I can simply replicate the entire model of RAM SS to RAM concept and then I can check the reactions at the base of it in both RAM SS and RAM concept to see they are same or No.

and then design a combined foundation.

Any other Idea to workout combined footing is really appreciated.

Torsion Irregularity in RAM SS.

Hello All,

I want to check for the Torsion Irregularity in RAM reports for Wind/ Seismic case, but the strange thing is I cant see it when I am looking at the report for Drift at control points?

-Is there any way I can check the structure for Torsion Irregularity as per ASCE 7-16, Table -12.3-1?

Tags in Revit plans/sheets when doing RAM to REVIT using ISM

Hello All,

I was able to successfully go between RAM > Revit and Revit > RAM.

But I have a question regarding tagging individual elements.

Lets say I have a model "A" (Older model) in Revit. Same model in RAM and After making some changes (Property/Geometry update) in RAM, I use ISM to convert the RAM model to Revit Model "B".

Now, if I have tags (Properties of individual members and Dimensions) in Model A and I want to replace the Tags of Model A with Model B, meaning I am re-importing model B in Revit.

I am not able succeed with the updated element tags of Model B.

Also, The two models are super-imposing on each other. If I don't delete the Model A. (which is obvious, but I wanted to keep the tags somehow so tried keeping the older model in.)

So only option is I need to delete model A and then re-import model B. but with this I will lose my progress of tagging individual elements, in Model A.

Is there any way I can circle around and keep my tags in the sheet/plans I have created.

Any guidance/solution to this is appreciated.

opening Multiple Models in RAM Structural System CONNECT Edition v17.02

I am comparing three different models in RAM structural system.
I am looking for a "Life hack" in handling three models simultaneously.

Well, It seems RAM structural System doesn't allow opening multiple models at a same time.

Any thoughts on it?
