I am using openroads 2020 Release 2 for a project . I am creating Cut fill volumes from Civil Analysis. I have only 5-6 short corridors (100-200m long) to analyze which is in an attachment file. I have also ensured there is not any unwanted reference files with huge terrain.

I have clipped existing terrain to the extents of the corridor and removed the rules. The unsuitable material is the top 150mm of existing ground. I had applied a surface template on the clipped existing terrain for unsuitable material.

I'm running into an issue where my "Measure Length" tool is giving me an incorrect value. I am trying to measure a length of conduit, but it is giving me a length double of what the actual length is. I had it defined as an offset partial off the back of a sidewalk. Has anyone ever run into this before? It's an issue if I can't trust the measure tools.

The only thing I'm unsure about is the approach to making major changes to alignments and geometry.

I know you can make some changes with the existing elements and there is the insert vertex tool but if I need to add in or replace elements in the middle of an alignment to make major changes how should this be done?

I could drop the complex element using the Microstation tool and then make the changes but then I break all the geometric relationships based on this alignment e.g. channel geometry. There is a similar issue with general geometry too as I assume there isn't a way to re-establish relationships for geometry after it's created e.g. need to replace the alignment which breaks the offset to the channels, replace the channel geometry and the relationship to other geometry is broken too etc.

As an addition, is it possible to physically move a whole alignment along with the associated elements together e.g. moving a whole pond from one place to another.

Regards,

The Alignment , corridor and superelevation are in different files. More often, the corridor file does not reflect the super elevation. The point control window in Corridor objects show the Superelevation controls, the dynamic cross section show the magenta points for superelevation, but the corridor lanes does not get rotated for the superelevation values.

The issue gets sorted out randomly, some times closing and reopening the files, reattach corridor, reattach reference, reapply superelevation. There is no particular way. But it gets sorted out on any of the mentioned actions. Sometimes it does not get sorted at all.

This is consuming a huge un productive time. Please help me if anyone has a solution for the problem. This problem was faced by other members in the team too.

I don't think this is a unique problem but I can't seem to find any answer on it. The terrain model I was working on had a boundary created from Extract Graphic and I manipulate the boundary and it just expands to it as expected. A day passed and when I get back to working on the terrain model, it seems to have disconnected from the boundary line that I was able to work with. Thinking it might not be that big of a deal - I could just recreate the boundary and continue my work but the tool doesn't let me. It is saying "Terrain Model doesn't have a source boundary".

So if the Terrain Model doesn't have a boundary, I should be able to extract graphic and have a boundary to work with. However, using the 'Create Terrain Model Boundary' tool - I get the error saying "Terrain already has a source boundary". So which is it? If I were to reimport my terrain model my work would be lost so that's not an option.

Has anyone had this issue before? Am I out of luck or am I missing something here? The boundary line has already been deleted.

Remove Deleted Element from Surface

Hi,
