Bentley open roads user, Connecting conduits

Hey guys,

Its just been a month for me to use bentley open roads and I am trying to do some sub-surface utilities works. I am trying to connect two different conduits with different pipe size to form a new pipe with different pipe size. I watched a lot of youtube videos which shows that the pipe is to be connected with a node, is there a way to join those two together without the use of node?

I have also tried to place the lateral in main pipe but while running design analysis, the whole trunk pipe changes which I dont want. Is there any way that I can do this? Any help would be really appreciated. Thank you.

Is it possible to drop, convert or lock annotation texte (favorite or cell) once they are generated from the geometry feature definition

We are working with OpenRoads Designer 10.07.01.32 and producing plan and plan and profile sheet model with named boundary. I defined feature definition for the alignment and the ditches. When the profile is created ditches are annotated at each PI with sta and elevation according to road horizontal alignment Z value.

the thing is now, we want to manually move these annotations. Is there a way to lock/freeze so that it wont update if there is some modification.

Random lines in OpenRoads Designer Cross-sections

has anyone seen this before? we have random diagonal lines appearing in long and cross sections from our drainage networks. the diagonal lines appear to be connected in some way to the MHs (ie when you select one of the lines it lists it as a drainage node)

Using 10.07 but this also appears in 10.10

Modelling a duct bank but can't get strip components and end conditions to produce the backfill mesh

Hi,

I have followed the Bentley Video on modelling duct banks to do my own (video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Y3a54S-CVM) but I cannot get the strip components to produce the backfill as per the video...end conditions work fine but how has this Bentley guy got the half green mesh on his template?

Can't add lights in LumenRT?

Hi all,

what am i doing wrong with the lights? i want to add a series of lights to the underside of this bridge but after having placed 1, clicking the '+' does not let me add any more, see the image (and gif link for better moving example) below. Any advice would be gratefully received.

How can I shift a whole profile down?

Sorry if this has been asked but how can I move a whole profile down by a certain amount in OpenRoads Designer 10.07?

Projected Profile fidelity vs original profile

Hi there,

Can anyone tell me if this is normal behaviour for Projected Profiles (the same also applies to Profile by Slope etc)...my original crown profile is as you would expect, nice parabolas connected tangentially with straights, but when I project this profile to create my kerb channels, it becomes jagged and made up of low-fidelity straights, as in the image below (top red dashed is crown profile, green dashed is existing ground, bottom red dashed is the projection, the curve at the top has a K value of 1.009, the bottom isn't even a curve).

OpenRoads Designer Asset Manager, what version?

can someone please confirm for me what version of ORD we need to be running to get the Asset manager as per your various training/promo vids and this screenshot from Bentley Hong Kong? we have as latest version of ORD 10.06.00.38 but I do not appear to have asset manager.

OpenRoads Text favourite's into Microstation Connect

When I open DGN outputs created by OpenRoads the Text Favourites do not display in Microstation Connect. This affects all outputs including Long Sections, Cross Sections and Control Lines

I have tried using the same workspaces and ensuring that the Text Favourite Variable is mapped. However if I open the files with OpenRoads or OpenBridge with no workspace applied, I am able to see the text favourites. It is just Microstation Connect (Edition 12) where the Text Favourites do not populate with any data.

Hi, in making my named boundaries for sheet creation, how can i select a profile run graphically as a path element? when prompted to select the path element as per screenshot, i can only select individual pipes of the profile run

Trying to test out conceptcapture mobile app - getting upload error

Hi, the attached is the error I get when trying to upload photos using the ios version of Contextcapture. I have a projectwise project associated with the file, this happens on separate projects with completely different photos. Am I doing something wrong is the back end not working properly? I am using am iphone 6s plus on latest ios 12. Tried on 4g and different wifi networks, data is available in all cases. I understand these are shoddy photos, I'm just trying to See if I can upload at all at this stage

Ps the link thru to the app manual and documentation returns a server error too, not sure if this is related but is another reason why I've had to ask the question here. Grateful for any responses

Automatically copying tab separated lists to spreadsheet

Hi, currently in PW I 'copy tab separated list' from my doc sets into spreadsheets as detailed in the link below. This is fine, but it has to be done on a regular basis as things change in my doc sets change (I essentially copy the list over the data in the existing spreadsheet) and becomes quite a laborious task. Is there an easy way to automate this process?

Model Builder SUE documentation

Hi,

can anyone pls point me in the direction of SUE utility modelbuilder documentation? The mb help function (at least in 10.03.00.43) doens't work, and there is minimal info under the general ORD help function. Online doens't seem to yield much - most guides deal with hydralics which i am perfectly comfortable with. I would like to find out more about using existing cad files (for example 3d strings and points for the nodes of gas or water lines) and putting them into modelbuilder and assigning f-defs to them, along with other methods (eg csv entity info exports from autocad - no problem acad end but getting object not set to reference error in ord mb) . Can anyone help?
