ContextCapture, merge orthophoto tiles

Hi all,

something does not work here.

I produced an orthophoto Geotiff with CC Master, it has 93 tiles. I need to merge it into one Geotiff file.

So I used CC Editor to attach rasters, and up to this step everything is ok.

I then used "merge" tool to merge the tiles, with settings "process rasters only", resolution using "existing raster", output single file in Geotiff format.

This is where I get the following error: "Operation failed: C:\_path_to_file\Ortho_Raster.tif"

What's wrong? Is there any other method to make a single Geotiff file with original resolution and SRS?

Positioning levels of photos and point clouds are not consistent. Completely stuck before reconstruction.

Hi, so the data i have is approx 300 photos with a Nikon D810 (with or without geo -location data sideloaded from a phone app) and a .e57 file created from multiple scans with a Leica RC360. of a building.

No matter what I do I cant get to the reconstruction phase without the error as stated in the title "Positioning levels of photos and point clouds are not consistent "

If i try to manually set the location of the scan as 0,0,0 it gives an error "More than 1 scan in E57 file"

So I assume there must be a setting for the software to align the point cloud and photos visually and not their geodata?

The geolocation of the model is not required. Just need the model as 'proof of concept'.

The only other point to mention is that asked our 'scanner guy' are co-ordinate systems for the Leica and he wasn't aware of any settings for projections.

Facade Orthophotos in ContextCapture Editor

Hi,

We are trying to produce some Facade photos from a project in CC Editor. 3D mesh has already been produced from the Context Capture.

Issues occurred when the pixel size was set below 10mm:

1. If the pixel size is approaching 8mm, the output files are in strange formats (.zip) rather than JPEG although in the setting dialog it was chosen to be JPEG.

2. Tried a workaround method. Instead of doing JPEG directly from the mesh, images were produced in itiff64 first and a JPEG was then merged from it. Still there are some issues.

This is the setting when the itiff64 was produced. The pixel size is 3mm.

This is the image in itiff64 and it is attached in CCE.

It is clear to see that there are some random missing parts. The pixel size was set to be 5mm after this issue occurred. The missing part is still existing but fortunately it changed its position!

This is the setting dialog for the second ififf64 image.

It is possible to attach both images together and then clip the blank parts so a complete image is obtained. However, it will slow down the whole process because the time taken to produce each itiff64 image is surprisingly long! It took roughly a few hours to produce a itiff64 image.

Is there something wrong with the settings we are using or is this a natural issue in the rendering process binding in the CCE?

3. This is the shortest elevation in the project and the longest elevation we have is more than 100m. Here an image below might provide a rough idea.

It seems like it is impossible to produce a Facade orthophoto for the side elevation using CCE.

Any suggestions for an alternative?

Updating/Patching previous ContextCapture 3D Model

Hello everyone,

I was wondering if is there any known way of "updating" a 3D model (.3mx) created in ContextCapture, just for the sake of not processing the whole project again.

In other words, what I need is to process a small portion of a previously flown area, for which I already created a .3mx a while ago. The purpose of this would be to modify/update that small area over the 3d mesh that I already have. In doing so, I assume it would take me less time to process and would get me a model that is up to this date, without having to reprocess the unchanged areas.

Hope it's clear. Any help is appreciated.

How do you label absoluteZ values on sections in ContextCapture Editor?

Hello, I would like to label many absolute Z values on sections which are produced from a reality mesh in ContextCapture Editor. The dimensioning tools do not allow a quick way to label Z values, and the "Label Coordinates" tool in the Terrain Model tab places X and Y values which I do not need.

Hi. After I run the AT, I have submitted the production in 3MX format. But, in the job details table it show the status of the tile production is "Failed: Production failed".

I have tried to re-submit the production but it still show the same status, but I notified some unusual command from the cc engine that shows "Ignoring job"...........: Job submitted from a Master with a different version".

Fyi, I have update the CC to the latest version before I started this job.

Hence, together with this I have export one of the log file for your technical support.

Ground Extraction Classifiction of a bridge

I am eventually trying to produce a TIN model of a roadway, I produced a very accurate STM with ground control points. However the triangle elements withing the STM (as well with the point cloud) believe the bridge is a structure and not part of the roadway (see attached photos). I need the triangles to span over the bridge deck also. What type of settings should I change in the ground extraction for the triangle element mesh to span over the bridge deck also? I currently used a terrain Variation #5 setting and a max traiangle edge of 3'. Also, it is becoming very laborious to repair artifacts that are messing up my triangle mesh, any way of correcting this setting before the ground extraction?

Can I apply civil tools in Editor?

Hi,

I have noticed there are many utilities designed for Microstaiton for example Civil tools and Cell Tool.

Just wondering is it possible to use these utilities in Contextcapture Editor? I have tried to installed successfully and the palette popped out. However, none of them is working.

Is it my problem or they are not meant to be used in Editor?

Can anyone guide me through creating Orthophotos of a project from UCSs inside my CAD drawing.

I have managed to get my CAD plan into Editor and orientate my section accoridingly but I cannot get a decent GEOTIFF out.

[CC U13]Failed: An operation is not supported by the current product license

There is some strange issue with one of projects. At first it didn't process one Tile(stuck at 30%) so recreated the block from scratch and now it shows error " Failed: An operation is not supported by the current product license". What does it mean? The block has 22.4gigapix of photos and 370M points so it is not over license caps.

Detect QR Codes and Tags BEFORE aerotriangulation to set constraints

I want to be able to detect specifically April tags and set constraints before aerotriangulation so that the camera positions are accurate before reconstruction. I have a requirement to export the scaled camera positions but this doesn't seem possible in the current software.

A simple 'detect codes' feature would be good

Is it possible to attach links to external documents such as spreadsheets, PDF and images on a 3D mesh in ContextCapture Editor?

Or it can only be done in Microstation?

Which scalar fields Contextcapture uses for point cloud processing? I know it uses RGB,Intensity, GPStime but does it benefit if there is any extra fields like scan angle or classification?
