I am having an issue with GPK drawing my surfaces that I produced from Roadway Designer. When I am in RD, I can flip through the stations and the existing surface and proposed surfaces and information look good. I will then use the Create Surface tool within Roadway Designer and create the proposed DTM file while also displaying the features and components. When I look at the 3D features and components that are created, everything looks good and it covers the full limits of my project. When I go to the Draw Cross Sections from Surfaces tool within Corridor Modeler, I setup both my existing DTM and my new proposed DTM to be drawn. Once it draws these two surfaces, the existing surface is drawn through the end of the project, but the proposed doesn't show up on the last 4 or 5 sections. Any idea why this would be happening?

Thanks,
Ken

GEOPAK Corridor Modeler Questions

I am a long-time GEOPAK user, and I am looking into the new Corridor Modeler approach of roadway design. I have attended a few Distance Learning classes and I believe I understand the basic workflow, but I have run into several snags. Can anyone address these from a GEOPAK perspective?

I sucessfuly imported our ddb file into a xin in order to define styles. I found our ddb file's naming convention is a litte complicated, so I then found a sample xin somewhere that I would like to borrow heavily from. How can I edit a xin file from within GEOPAK? Is this possible, or do I need to edit a ddb and then re-import it into an xin every time?

I have created a a template for a rural section. I would like the ability to have a ditch bottom point follow a special ditch profile and follow a particular graphic element for its alignment rather than be at a fixed offset and elevation relative to the centerline. How do I assign a special ditch profile(s), and how do I search for plan view graphics to define variable offsets?

I know exactly what I need to do in GEOPAK to complete my designs, but I can see the advantage of using a model-based approach offered by Corridor Modeler.

I have trouble justifying spending a lot of money on training on something that I am not even sure we would ever use for production work.

Thanks for any help,

I was trying to convert the default_styles.ddb file provided with the software.Have also tried other ddb files, swapping out the xin file that is created in the rddbs folder. The results are the same in that no drafting standards are available for importing geometry or running roadway designer. Any ideas?

I am having troubles with intersection model where shoulder needs to disappear as it hits the intersection. I tried with RULES not to show the Shldr, no success so far. Can I assign a separate template for the intersection area without shoulder? I am in horizontal curve at this intersection, and have the criteria to meet superelevation design too. Can 3 different corridors to meet prior to intersection, intersection and post intersection and maintaining full super at the intersection be achievable?

I have an assignment with -2% cross slope prior to a curve. The horizontal curve is supposed to have a reverse crown with -1% on NB lane and -4% on SB lane. The superelevation section creates same cross slopes both sides. Is there anyone who has simple tips for me to achieve a transition of -2% to -1%;- 2% to -4% and transition back -1% to -2% and -4% to -2%. Is there any way I can create separate sections for NB and SB lanes? I am working on GeoPAK SS2 version.

I am a new user in Geopak. Recently received whole bunch of files from other offices. I have got .gpk; .tin; .obs; and many more among which is MHTML document. I can see the alignment chain has been sent in MHTML format, I could not import them into the project file. Same with surface file, it is sent in MHTML format but the import command does not have option for that. I believe there should be just few clicks to get them in, but for first time user it takes several days.
