I'm trying to use any of the cmdlets to extract outgoing transmittals and subsequently build a report of this information, however, I can't seem to get any of the cmdlets to work.

Every single PWDM cmdlet comes back with Method not found: 'BTSTypes.Operations BTSTypes.Repository.get_Operations()'.

I've looked at the other posts, like this one https://communities.bentley.com/products/projectwise/content_management/f/projectwise-powershell-extensions-forum/187010/get-pwdmincomingsubmittals-fails-with-missingmethodexception/548922#548922 Although it says to ensure you're on a particular version of DM, which I am, it doesn't mention anything else that may be the cause. Nor can I find any posts in the communities where someone has used these. Does anyone have any example working code they could share?

I'm using PWPS_DAB 1.20.2.0 and can run other functions fine. Our Connected project is on-premise, I assume that shouldn't matter?

I can see from the statistics, people are using these cmds, although maybe not as much for submittals and transmittals as I expected

I moved from ProjectWise 03.167 to 03.434 about a month ago as I have been wanting to use AutoCAD 2020 and I've come across a problem with the AutoCAD drawing title update process.

When AutoCAD drawings use the following right click action;

- Check Out
- Export as a locked file

After the files are out, there's a process which occurs to update the title blocks which uses Autodesk's RealDWG SDK. We have found that the versions of ProjectWise 03.280 and newer we have used, has been incredibly show for this process to complete.

It's not the data export process, that seems to be fine. The RealDWG update process (used by the attribute exchange) currently runs at about two files per minute. Before the upgrade, 03.167 would process about 2 files per second.

Is anyone else experiencing or hearing from other users how it's slow to update AutoCAD drawings?

Thanks

How do you manage document codes for different file types of the same file?

Our organisation is just getting started with ProjectWise. We have run into an issue where we will have a document code created for a file such as docx, xlsx, dgn, dwg, rvt, etc. Then if we want to plot the docx to PDF we obviously need it to have the same document code. Also when we are working with models we will generally have a dgn, nwc, ifc, imodel all of the same model. With the current setup theres no way to have the same document code on all these files.

This can't be a new issue, so I'm curious to see how others have handled this.

Options that have come up (that aren't particularly good) are to add the file extension to the document code, or to create a different environment for every filetype. There must be a better solution to this.

ProjectWise Performance Report

Hello everyone,

For those of you at the conference, this was the dashboard I showed in my presentation and for those not at the conference, this is a dashboard on performance monitoring inside of ProjectWise using PowerShell. Please find the attached documents to getting started with setting up performance monitoring on your system. There is a PowerShell script that needs to be run on some kind of scheduled task at the various locations you want to test, the template for the PowerBi report and a setup document to help you link the results from your script with PowerBi. For any questions or discussion please post to this thread. Enjoy!

Thanks,

Marty

UPDATE March 16, 2020

Change log
- Now supports WSG metrics, activated with the -IncludeWSGData switch (requires PWPS_WSG to be installed if activated)
- Added more verbose logging
- Added Environment table and WSG table to output
- Updated the call to get currently connected users (should perform better)
- Now only clears files created by the script from the working directory (was previously clearing everything)

Notes

- If you do not want WSG data returned you do not need to activate the switch, or change your current script in any way.

- If you do with to collect WSG data please remember to install PWPS_WSG the same way you install PWPS_DAB

- A new datatable is returned for Environment data, which will be added to the output dataset

- No breaking changes have been made.

Release Notes:

While this release includes a ProjectWise Administrator module that does not have a corresponding PWDI Server version, the rule about mixing versions on the same machine still apply. The reason for this is to allow both ProjectWise Administrator 3.3 and ProjectWise explorer version 3.3 to be installed on the same machine. This version of ProjectWise Administrator can only be used to administer a 10.00.03.2XX ProjectWise Datasources. This version of ProjectWise Administrator cannot be installed on the same machine as PWDI 3.2 Server. It can only be installed alongside a machine that also has PW Explorer 3.3.

We are trying to convert our on-premise Projectwise users to IMS without converting their User Type, which is currently Windows Synchronized.
(so basically just add the email to the federated identity tab)

What we are doing are:
Get-PWUsersInUserList -UserList Test33 | Convert-PWUserToFederated -DoNotChangeUserType

This changes nothing in the user properties, .. this, however, works:

Get-PWUsersInUserList -UserList Test33 | Convert-PWUserToFederated

But this converts users to Federated authentication, which is exactly what we are trying to avoid.

Something seems to be wrong with the way we use the -DoNotChangeUserType parameter.

PWPS_DAB Version: 1.15.3.0
PW server Version: 10.00.03.140

If I Create a Work Area, then associate it to an Online Project, there is no option to enable Project Share. If I don't use an associated project I can create the Project Share, however, the files I add to the shared area (regardless of if they are added online or through PW explorer) are READ ONLY through the WOPI. There is no button to enable editing and the word documents are in PDF or View mode.

If I use a standard Share file inside the online project and add a word document, this allows editing through the WOPI, although it does not appear in PW explorer as this isn't a ProjectShare.

Is this a setting I haven't correctly set from the administrator module or on the web services gateway?

Is there another way to have a true single source of truth for all our project data, whilst enabling the non-PW-Explorer-initiated to work as they normally would? I'm starting to lean toward a SharePoint / Team site that is synced to PW using PowerShell or the API.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

We are starting to use PowerShell to try and automate some procedures and reports but I can only see a list of the cmdlets, but nothing what they do. So you would anyone know which ones would be best on the following if they are even possible:

Reporting users and the groups they are assigned to on each datasource but also report on a property they have been assigned for example whether they have been set to use the integration server license or client side license.

Rename files from a search result to add PW attributes to the file name.

To create a ProjectWise project with a list of values and then apply access template from an excel file.

The rest of the code we can do but it is the specific or combinations of cmdlets that would do the above we are struggling with.

ProjectWise Gateway Server Connections - DMSKRNL.exe Threads?

G'day All,

For the integration server, the dmskrnl.exe thread count, shown on processes tab of the windows task manager displays the number of current connections to the server. Is this the same for the gateway server? Showing the number of inbound/outbound connections?

I am asking as we have recently configured our gateway servers to have load balancing done through the F5 and we believe this is working correctly, as the dmskrl.exe on each is showing roughly the same amount of connections.

Is there any other way to accurately check load balancing is working correctly?
