About Nate Holt
Nate Holt, referred to as the “Father of AutoCAD Electrical” by some, is now a Bentley colleague. He is a registered professional engineer with a measure of history in the both the controls industry and in electrical CAD applications development. Starting with a BSEE from the University of Toledo, Nate jumped into plant-level engineering maintenance… designing in-house controls improvements and then helping the plant electricians bend the conduit and pull the wire. Later he designed and installed large chemical batching systems while birthing two ECAD applications… add-ons for Computervision’s CADDS 4X and then for its PC-based Personal Designer. A successful turn at entrepreneurship in the mid-90’s from a spare bedroom led to development of an AutoCAD-based ECAD package. This eventually grew into a product known as AutoCAD Electrical.
The recent economic downturn and penchant for off-shoring returned Nate to his entrepreneurial roots in mid-2009. But an out-of-the-blue phone call in early 2011 changed all that – “I am honored and look forward to working with all the fine people at Bentley!”.
Nate will be working in product management with the EPP team (Electrical, Piping, and Plant).
Nate resides in the Toledo, Ohio area with his wife Jean - who is a great cook. Nate spends his free time washing dishes.
