When using Openroads Designer, how to bring back side toolbar just like Power Civil?

Could Openroads Designer display side toolbar just like Power Civil? I am not quite familiar with the ribbon interface on ORD, so I want to change back to side toolbar just like what Power Civil looks. See below picture. Some of our customers have the same question.

I searched similar questions, and found that V8i style Tasks could be displayed in MicroStation CONNECT Edition using the configuration variable MS TASKNAVIGATION CONFIGURATION.

And I tried this method on ORD but it did not work. Maybe there is other configuration variable that we could change in order to solve this problem?

Survey Point "Decorations" written to graphics

I have my survey points displayed in the "live" survey drawing showing Point Number, Elevation, Description, Notes.

Now I need to create graphics of these for every point in my drawing (and future drawings).

i have watched a video showing the creation of some graphics for one Control Point which appears to hard-wire the code, N, E, EL.

This is probably where I need to be going with this, but the example is for one control point and different pieces.

I am on Projectwise, and boot my drawing such that the state created "things" appear, sort of replicating the many "things" that were shown in the video.

There appears to be an Annotation Group Plan/Point/Survey/ "All Points Label" which sounds like a thing that might create labels for all the points?

There is also an Annotation Definition Plan/Point/ "Survey Topo Point Label" which sounds like a thing that might create labels for all the points?

Then I find an Element Template with Survey Features and a thing called "Survey Topo Label" which sounds like a thing that might create labels for all the points?

Then I find a Text Favorite called "Survey Topo Point Label" which looks like a hard-wired Code, N, E, EL for one specific point from some survey by the state.

So now that I'm totally confused by all these things, I'd like to be able to somehow get a graphic replica of the "Decorations" of my points (all the points) from my 'live" drawing.

Somehow it seems that Text Favorite needs to be generalized to write out the Point Number, Elevation, description, notes for any/all points imported to the drawing.

Seeing that the state has done some of the setup for this, I'd like to understand how all the "things" need to be (pointing to the next thing) but somehow get the pieces of the "decorations" applied as graphics.

Attached is a screen shot of the many "things" that maybe point to each other and maybe get close to this end, but I'm looking for labels for all the points, not just one "EOGRVL" point from some survey.

Is it even possible in ORD to get graphics for all points from a survey?

Survey not Processing on Open Roads Disaster

I have an issue where my files stop recognizing the new survey point that I import.

The issue is some times will bring in the points but I will not create the linework, I can't create the linework since changing the link code does nothing. Also, I have had this happen more than once where certain codes are not recognized so the points will not come in all together no error shown since the codes are valid codes just not processed. none of the times is the surface updated or created.

I have spent three days trying to troubleshoot this issue to no avail. Does anyone have similar problems that they have been able to fix?

I have tried recreating the drawing with a clean seed file, which worked for a while, and then it stopped altogether so I am back to the beginning. any help would be nice. I have made sure the feature definitions are all set up correctly.

North Arrow auto-rotation in Annotation Group

I am implementing a Plan Sheet Annotation Group to include match lines and a north arrow, as shown in the video linked below. However, I cannot get the north arrow to orient true north automatically, with respect to each rotated plan sheet. Are users required to manually rotate each north arrow, sheet by sheet, or can this rotation be automated? Any suggestions would be much appreciated. I matched the settings shown in this example. numeric keyboard shortcut on OpenRoads

Insert or Embed Excel Table in DGN File

I know this may not be the proper forum for a question like this but this is the only forum I follow regularly.

How do I embed and link a MS Excel spreadsheet within a DGN file using MicroStation Connect. I seem to remember a simple paste command in v8i but I can not find anything similar in MS Connect.

ORD Table Preserve Formatting Not Working

When inputting a table using the Place Table command, linking an excel sheet, picking a manual range, and then preserving the formatting, the table formatting is not preserved. I will note that the only feature that it is not preserving is the row height. In the table in question there are skinny rows, all rows become the same size, the column width is preserved, and the color of cells is preserved. Is there something I am missing or is the ORD Place Table command meant to keep the row heights the same as provided in Excel?

Why can't ORD Process Survey Points

To say that I hate this Software is an understatement, everytime we try processing survey data we get some issue, I am sick of it. My issue now is I have survey points that I have imported already and now that I am trying to add a new file, but when I do it stops recognizing the feature definitions which it already had in previous recognize deleting all the linework that was created before. and leaving me with a lot of error cells. Had anyone had a similar situation or had any luck processing survey points with OpenRoads Disaster?

Is anyone having trouble Plotting Aerials in ORD?

Plotting aerial images using named boundaries has been a nightmare in ORD. Slow to plot. Images in pdf format are gridded and super slow to load. Basically unusable.

Anyone had the same issue? Any solutions?

Survey Processing on OpenRoads Disaster

Does anyone know when we can expect to have the survey processing issues with OpenRoads Disaster fixed? I still can't get the data to show up, the linkcode is missing from the properties. I don't understand how an unusable program can be released.

Printing organizer not working

My print organizer gets stuck with a window saying "preparing to print" but nothing happens I left it overnight and still trying to print it used to work great I am only printing about 5 sheets of not heavy cadd. can anyone please help? I set up my project where if this doesn't work it's going to be a real nightmare printing manually.

Survey Features

This new software has been nothing but issues when processing survey points does anyone have a good way to get help? I have tried calling them to create service requests but all to no avail. When is this disaster going to get fixed?

Or maybe someone here can help, I have no way to edit points, if a code comes in wrong then you can't edit it. and only some of the cells come in not all of the cells are showing up when they should the settings on our file are set up for it to work but it doesn't. so I don't know what else to do.

Rotate Survey Cells

I've done some research on this. How is this not possible in basic OpenRoads?

In Civil3d you select the survey object, say a sign, and hover, choose rotate, and swing it graphically.

This is basic stuff that a surveyor should be able to do.

Unable to Run Command in a Design Model

I have a file with imported survey points from a.csv file and when I try the "Drawing model Annotation" to label all my survey points I get the " unable to run Command in a Design Model. Can anyone help?

Background Mapping

I have set my Geo Coordinates and have background mapping showing in the Model Space of my file... But i was wondering if there is a way in which the background mapping can then be bought through onto sheet files with Saved Views, or any other way for that matter?

It would be helpful to show the surround areas (we have not be given any surround information on the project we are working on) to give the drawing more relevance.

any advise would be much appreciated.
