Place Civil Label with "Leader"

Working with OpenRoads release 13. The "Place Civil Label" label seems to have the (some) ability to use a MicroStation Dimension style to set the properties of the label. But it only follows a limited portion of the dimension style settings.

Dimension Style Levels are not being used by Place Civil Label, and dimension with leader uses only a "one segment" leader with no ability to add "In-Line Leader" or "Text Frame" options. The Place Civil Label" with leader only adds an awkward looking one vertex leader from the object to the text.

If you edit the dimension style and save it, then click yes to propagate the changes to the dimensions using that style, then leader level changes, and sometimes the text justification changes but not in a way that follows the dimension style settings.

ORD Cross sections have solid shapes that print black

I am using ORD CE 2021 R2 and am having an issue with the cross section elements showing up as solid (fill) shapes that print solid black or gray. The element template only defines the level which should have a line weight of 0 and a material. I have no idea where the fill shape is coming from or why it prints.

Any suggestions?

Sheet Numbering - Adding External Sheets

We're looking at taking advantage of the sheet numbering functionality in MS and ORD and doing a little testing. I wanted to reach out to the community and see how others are handling the sheet numbering when other "external" sheets are part of the final document.

In our workflow, we sometimes have external, non-CAD, generated data that's intermingled throughout the contract document, sometimes in the middle, sometimes at the end. Creating folders and subfolders within the sheet index does help with the renumbering of our sheets that follow any of those external docs, at least that's how I conceptually see it working.

Aside from creating blank sheet placeholders, how is everyone else handling these situations?

OpenRoads Designer 2022 Release 1 "-wr X:/Configuration" switch issue

Just testing the ORD 2022 R1 within our environment and am running into a similar issue I had with MS R17 (which is now fixed in 17.1) where the command line switch "-wr<drive letter>/Configuration isn't recognized.

Is anyone else seeing similar results?

I am not a huge fan of the managed configurations since it can't be pushed out to the entire staff.

Cut Fill Volumes

I created the Cut - Fill Volumes from "Home> Civil Analysis > Create Cut Fill Volumes" and then have made changes to the vertical profile of the alignment, but the Cut/ Fill sections which are visible in the XS drawing is the one before the changes made to the Vertical profile of the alignment. Can anyone suggest how to delete the Cut / Fill analysis initially carried out. So that I can compute the new cut fill analysis.

OpenRoads Designer Cross Section Side Slope Labels

I am trying to get our cross section side slopes to annotate properly and I'm not having any luck at all. Referring to the images below, the side slope label is labeling between the top of slope point and fill point and not to the intermediate hinge point (the top image). The segment labels should be 3:1 and 2:1 respectively (the bottom image).

I was going to create two different annotation definitions; one for cross slopes between the CL, EP and ES and another one for the side slopes that included those segments. BUT, in testing it appears that in defining that way, I can't get the anything to annotate, at least in the preview I can't.

In the image below, I am using a slope annotation definition on the left that is defined using all segments and on the right I used the "new" annotation definition using a list of segments.

[QRD] Match Line Annotation to Call Out Adjacent Sheets

In the video for how to create the text favorites and annotation group, it shows making a label to list the sheet identifying data. But if followed, it lists the current sheet, not the adjacent sheet. Can this be fixed somehow?

Where and how is the variable _USTN_WORKSETDGNWS defined?

I am trying to configure ORD CE for ProjectWise.

Our folder structure does not support worksets under workspaces but there a videos on how to configure that. I have been successful in making out projects work as worksets and associating them with a workspace. However, my efforts to enable the sheet index (and whatever else a DGNWS file provides)have failed. I have defined a common location for the Workset CFG files and location where the DGNWS file should be created using _USTN_WORKSETSDGNWSROOT.

But I cannot figure out how to define _USTN_WORKSETDGNWS in PW. According to its description, it should be the full path file name of the DGNWS file. But in my PW Managed Workspace, it is being defined to the Workset name only and according to the Configuration Dialog box, it is being set at a System Level, While most of my workset variables at reported to be correctly set to Workset Level.

I discovered that if I list the Configuration Variables using the Show Configuration Variables command of the dialog box and compare its list to the Summary of Variables from an MSDEBUG.TXT file, there are a number of assignments that are missing. Particularly glaring is the _USTN_WORKSETDGNWS assignment. In fact, I have searched every CFG I could find and do not see it listed anywhere.

If it is automatically generated, are there rules and conditions that can effect its assignment? I need to figure out why I cannot get the variable and its operational purpose to function in Project Wise.

OK Folks, here is my dilemma...

I made some cells for annotating RW/easement breaks. Two of the cells when placed, the justification of in-line leader and leader are offset from the origin of the cell. See image below.

I played around with the dim style and determine the placement isn't controlled by that, I hate to consider changing the origin of the cells.

Has anyone else experienced similar issues?

OpenRoads crash when work with DWG/DXF file ORD 2020 R3

Hello

When I work with DWG/DXF file (from other teams or partners), I always have errors and crash when save or close file.

Is there any solution to eliminate crashes? It starts after updating OpenRoads to version 10.09.00.91.

Longer File Opening and Batch Printing Times with Connect Products on a Network drive

Is anyone still experiencing longer than expected file opening and batch printing (via print Organizer) times using any of the Connect products with the Configuration environment and project files being stored on a network environment?

Both our workspace (configuration) environment and the project files exist on the same NAS storage device and organized on separate drive letters. I have even gone as far as placing the workspace/configuration environment locally on a device and the project files being the only files stored on NAS storage. The results are similar if not the same.

Is anyone else experiencing these similar issues?

Where can we get an update on a defect dealing with dgnws files and their locations?

We have a defect filed (Defect 1094694) for allowing a dgnws to reside in the main CAD folder in a given project rather than one huge directory with all cfg and dgnws files where all users would have read/write access. How do we find out on the progress of such a Defect ticket?

ORD-Cross Section Bandwidth

Our current workflow is to show utility and drainage features that fall between stations on station ahead or back cross section depending on the station the feature actually exists at. For example, On a set of cross sections at 50 foot interval, a projected utility or drainage feature at station 10+26, it would appear on cross section 10+50, or if it crossed at station 10+18, it would appear on cross section 10+00.

I've looked all around in ORD and can't seem to find anything similar to that. In the previous versions, it was called Bandwidth under Cross Sections-->Update Cross Sections-->Projected Features. There we could define a Bandwidth window so many feet ahead and back.
