Coordinate system transformation (local (1970) to UTM - 34N; 35N)

Hello!

Recently I'm trying to convert a Bulgarian coordinate system 1970 to UTM, and i struggling whit it. I can find many points from CS (coordinate system) 1970 and their UTM coordinates from different CS converting programs.

I find this on the topic:

I activated Bentley map in my Power Rail Track instance (i hope there is no extra charges :S ), but i still cant edit the GCS (geographic coordinate system)

How can i use it?

What must contain the *.ctl file?

Is this i looking for?

I finde in GCS a system that is closest to ours:

but the latitude is from 43°37'12.0000"N to 48°15'36.0000"N, and its for Romania only. I need it from 41° to 45°

Can someone explain step by step how to procedure it please.

Somehow I drag it out of the window and disappeared. Cant figure it out how to turn it on... ;D

Turnout placed in a curve

Turnout placed in a curve changes the length of circular curve element of the turnout.

This is inaccuracy in the elements. Sometimes appears parasite elements.

I think this should be revised!

Importing google map model to OpenRail

Can someone suggest best way to export to OpenRail and transform in UTM coordinates.

I can export in this formats:

I tried dxf and obj, but it seems the data is to big (2gb)and OpenRailDesign crashes.

The best scenario will be to can use the model as surface and the textures are visible.

Hi,

I'm using a Power Rail Track V8i (Select series 2) V08.11.07.685 and I have a problem while I'm trying to save templetate file or roadway designer file. I have always this kind of message : "error writing to file ......" .

I've contacted with Bentley support, but they couldn't solve the problem. Maybe someone had the same problem and you were able to fix this problem. Please help, becouse i'm stuck with work.

This is definetely not a problem with read/write access or running program as an administrator or setting coma in regionally settings in OS. All of this has been checked.

Vertical design process in OpenRail

Hi All,

It seems as though OpenRail has lost some functionality in vertical design process, I will explain below:

The way BRT did vertical design I could see all of my verticals, all at the same scale and all in the same window, do a bit of CAD to annotate cut in points or spot areas to keep lifts/lowers to a specific magnitude and maybe even reference in the horizontal beneath to make it easier to find features such as Bridges, Platforms, S&C etc.... However, in OpenRail this functionality seem to have been totally stripped out and replaced with something that seems similar to what MX offered users, with a single window that scales in and out uncontrollably and can't be married up with any other vertical or horizontal, it seems a very blinkered way of designing a vertical alignment.

Is anyone else finding the OpenRail vertical design process somewhat lacking when compared to BRT vertical design process or am I missing some functionality in OpenRail?

If other users are feeling that the OpenRail vertical design process could be improved then please post on here with your suggestions or experiences.

Regression Points Offset - change the direction of the offset?!

Hello!

I have old project and I want to import the surveyed rails into regression points. The points of the LR and on the RR are not on the same station. So I imported the LR points with -0.75 offset and RR with +0.75 offset.

In the start of the track it worked well (it appeared on the left of the regression line):

, but when the track changes the direction on Easting axis, it behave strange, it changes the direction of the regressed line (it appeared on the right of the regression line):

Is there some variable that I need to change?

Horizontal Event Point Name

I am using Power Rail Track SS4. After importing the horizontal event points data, while annotating the Event points are showing but the names of the event point are displaying as a single name i.e. 'STATION' only. A screenshot is attached for better understanding. Any help regarding this would be appreciable. We can see that the Event Points have specific different names but while annotating the names are coming as 'STATION' only.

Hi - I'm running templates for some temporary ballast on top of a permanent formation. The bottom of ballast points are projecting to surface, but I'm getting lots of gaps in my components (and some random points) The perm formation surface is a pretty simple flat terrain (red line on dynamic section below)

The template points seem to be creating line strings as expected (apart from the odd random point!) as seen in faint orange below. Templates are being run at 1m centers.

All bottom of ballast points projecting to surface are defined exactly the same way (slope from top of ballast point and project to surface). Farthest track to the left in the image forms perfectly, center track not so good, near side, pretty bad! Alignments through this section are tangent (all parallel) and at the same vertical level/grade.

Thoughts anyone?

Template itl-file causing OpenRail to crash

Hello,

My itl-file is causing OpenRail crash every time I go to corridor and click on template. I only did simple stuff editing and creating new templates, very irritating when I spent the whole day working on this file and now I can't even open it to see what causing the problem.

I can send the itl-file if it helps locating the problem.

Isolate part of the point cloud for export in *.xyz?

How I can isolate just part of the point cloud to be exported.

In short I try to export the whole, but there must be some limitation because I can't see all the elevation that I need. Or the problem is some kind of elevation transformation. The points in the cloud have elevation near 160 and when exported ~200.

I do this to make random feature from the points, so I can project them to the CS. If there is easiest way, please tell.

I was wondering if there is a way to use an existing Autocad drawing to make a component for a template. Since a rail or a sleeper has a lot of points and its difficult to make a template on these.

Hello colleagues,

At my company, I am trying to persuade the company's management to move from Autodesk to Bentley (and bring you more then 200 new licenses). Unfortunately, the new OpenRail Designer 2020 Release 2 gives me almost no trumps in my hand. After all, you made a copy of Autocad Civil from that great software (BRT). It's a huge pity. At the same time, you have eliminated perhaps the biggest advantage of BRT, namely Multiple Regression Analysis. The thing that designers in my area use every day and go to do almost miracles with it and even after more than two years, you are not able to implement it.

How would you create this easy (in BRT) example in OpenRail Designer? Please can you show me?

OpenRail Corridor Cant point controls

Hi all,

I did some corridor testing in OpenRail (2020 Release 2 Update8) and noticed a strange behavior of Cant point controls.

In this extreme case, I made a horizontal alignment, where a perpendicular line to certain points of the alignment would intersect with itself - see the image below for a better explanation.

As you may be able to see, the corridor template does not seem to know which elevation to connect the cant point control to, and chooses to use the first available (perpendicular to the alignment), creating a wrong 3D model in the last part.

This test alignment only contains a single cant alignment, and a single vertical profile. The template used for this purpose was one of the standard ones provided by Bentley ("Single Track - Concrete Sleepers").

Have any of you encountered an error like this?

Feel free to try to recreate the situation and see if you have the same issue.
