CONNECT SPEED - Users are STOP using CE

BENTLEY... URGENT URGENT URGENT

This has been raised many times by many people in this forum, including myself

We are now at CE9 and this is STILL AN ISSUE

I have many clients that I am trying to get to use CONNECT....

They are ALL saying........

WE CANNOT USE CONNECT because it is SO SO SO SO SLOW. Their same files in V8i are super fast.

CE opening times are a horendous
File Navigation is a horendous

If you compare CE to V8i... users will opt for V8i every time, V8i is literally is a fraction of time. User cannot and will not wait for 2-5 minutes to open the software, they will not wait to open another dgn file. So not matter how hard we try to convince them CE is the way forward... they simply say NO.

THIS IS NOW A CRITICAL ISSUE and BENTLEY you seriously need to get this FIXED ASAP.

As I mentioned we are now at CE9 and this issue is still present.........its beyond a joke.

In my opinion... stop working on anything else and get the speed issue fixed or you will not have any users left to use it. Its only a matter of time before you lose them and they start using ACAD!!!!!!!

STAAD Steel & Concrete Design Modules

Are the subject modules part of the standard STAAD.Pro functionality or does it require additional purchase? These would be the tabs along the top of the product when in STAAD

Bentley View - FDOT Environment

Can Bentley View run within the FDOT workspace environment? I have a couple of high-level managers who want to be able to see the progress of design without having to install the full version.

OpenRoads Level Definitions-Modeled elements vs drafted elements

Just looking to get an idea on what others are doing in regards to OpenRoads modeling elements vs elements that aren't being modeled. Maybe there is a best practice for this?

Opinions on defining levels that are specific for "modeled" graphics/elements created from OpenRoads. i.e. m_TOPO-CUTT, m_TOPO-FILL, m_ROAD-EDGE, m_SHLDR-EDGE, m_STORM-PIPE, m_STORM-INLT, etc... vs using the defined corporate levels of C-TOPO-CUTT, C-TOPO-FILL, etc... Is there a real good reason to separate them?

My thoughts are that we would replace the "C-" prefix with the prefix "m_". The "m_" signifies that these elements are modeled from software and not a "drafted" element.

Your comments are greatly appreciated.

MS CE Update 2 IS STILL slow

Sorry to say but I was under the impression Update 2 was going to be faster. Sadly its not.

I still have to remove the DGNWS files and the recent files to gain speed. This is with simple 2d files.

I have looked at the list of enhancements provided in this forum and none mention anything to do with this issue. I now have a long standing client that has stated they will NOT upgrade to CE, due to the speed, plus they will not sign up for Select on their next renewal date.

MicroStation Connect - Insane File-->Open Times

We have created a MicroStation Connect environment off-line, tested most of the customizations and are now ready to test it in the live production environment. In the off-line environment, I was able to open files with very little lag times. However, when opening a file on the network, we have encountered extremely long file open times in the neighborhood of 2 minutes per file.

Has anyone else encountered anything similar?

MicroStation Connect-Custom Interface; Tools, Tasks and Menu's

SO I'm working on migrating my V8i corporate workspace to the new Connect workspace/configuration. I was easily able to migrate the resources (DGNLIB, Cells, RSC's, etc..) all of that seems to be read in my CFG files, no issues there. However, I have exported my custom tools, tasks, menus and icons from my V8i workspace DGNLIB and attempted to import them into my connect configuration DGNLIB. The message states that the import was successful, but I don't see any of the customizations.

The DGNLIB file and location is defined in the DGNLIBLIST and GUIDGNLIBLIST variables.

Has anyone else had this issue? If so, were you able to fix it.

Script for nested reference attachments

Good Day,

I am attempting to write a script for making a nested reference files direct attachment and then detach the nested reference file. My script looks like this;

REFERENCE MAKEDIRECT cn_compile.dgn->*

REFERENCE DETACH cn_compile.dgn

When its run, the files in the stated file do not become direct attachments, but does get detached. I think its because MicroStation is waiting for an acceptance for the direct attachment. How can I script to accept it?

IR SS3 08.11.09.722/MS SS3 08.11.09.608 Annotation & Stationing and Annotation Scale

Its been a bit since I have posted here, so your patience is appreciated.....

About a year or so ago, I had gotten my horizontal alignment stations and labels to annotate at a MS files defined annotation scale. Using the subject version, I am no longer able to do so. When I analyze the stationing elements, the Is Annotation is set to FALSE. I have styles and text styles defined for the stationing and horizontal annotation, there isn't a toggle for them being annotation or not.

I have my preferences linked to my InRoads DGNLIB and my InRoads annotation preferences are all named the same (View Horizontal, View Stationing, etc...).
