I am designing a moment connection between W beam to HSS column using direct weld.

It seems like that Ram connection does not consider the workable flat of the HSS section, and assumes that the beam flange width is the length of weld.

Even at cases were workable flat dimension is less than beam flange width. The length of weld usually impacts the capacity of weld.

I wonder if this issue is resolved in most recent/future ram connection version.

Than I moved to design my baseplate and anchor bolt using ram connection using LRFD method, and I realized that ram connection imported the the load from elements without adding LRFD load combinations.

So I went back and I added LRFD load combinations to my ram elements model, and Imported the loads again to ram connection and design the base connection. But now in ram elements the column that passed the

design using ASD method is NOT passing the LRFD load combination, even though in ram elements I choose the design code to be "AISC-05-ASD".

Should I ignore that the column is not passing the LRFD load combinations since the design code is "AISC-05-ASD"?
