I have a large STAAD model file for a linear analysis of a space frame. I have used the INACTIVE MEMBER/PERFORM ANALYSIS/CHANGE commands to sequence the framing as the loading is applied.

When I run the analysis I get an error message stating "Exception [Access violation] Raised! Aborting analysis..."

I have attached the input file for reference. Please note this file is an attempt to merge 2 existing models together. It uis a work in progress hence my query and the fairly messy state of the file!

Can anyone advise why I am getting this error?

Thanks in advance.

I don't use (and have no intention of using) the new functions that STAAD offers on start up. These pop up windows are irritating (especially when working with multiple models) and seem to slow the process down.

Can I change the startup so that when I open a file, it goes straight into the main program without all the pop ups?

I have changed all the settings I can see to prevent things open but nothing changes in operation.

I have a simple mat foundation model to which I have applied several loadcases with column reaction forces defined. These appear to be correctly defined as I can see them in the geometry window and they are listed in the load description correctly. The loads have been included in combinations and are listed in the 'Job setup'. However, when I solve the model and look at the calculation sheet, the loads are not fully listed in the tables.

How can I tell that the loads are correctly applied; is there a means of verifying the total applied load?

If not, how do I apply the load correctly?

See attached files for info.

I have a model which I created in STAAD SS4. I then had my machine updated to SS5 due to a licencing problem with SS4. I was led to believe that SS4 and SS5 were fully compatible with one another.

I don't believe this is the case, and wanted to ask if my problem is a known error in the software or if I am missing something obvious!

With the original model in SS4 I had extracted corner stresses from several locations. I took these and used them in my design calculations as normal. Later, after my copy of STAAD was updated to SS5, I had to go back into the model to make a modification. As I had done before, I extracted the corner stresses. However, this time the lower flange (of a standard UB section) did not report the corner stresses at the correct locations. I cannot understand why.

Screenshot of model in STAAD SS4

Screenshor showing the same model analysed in STAAD SS5

This error appears to affect all models created in SS4 and then re-analysed in SS5.

I only noticed this error after manually swithching on the labels in the graphical display. Had I not done this I would have made a serious error as the software gave every indication that it was providing the 'corner' stresses.

Is this a known issue?
