I was reading this article on how to check the stability of Mat foundations in STAAD.Pro.

https://communities.bentley.com/products/ram-staad/w/structural_analysis_and_design__wiki/29973/stability-checks-for-a-mat-foundation-modeled-in-staad-pro

With this I have a question:

In checking Sliding ratio, I get it that I can get the results by dividing the product of vertical loads and friction factor to the corresponding horizontal loads on every load case.

But in checking Overturning moment ratio, I do not know how to get the results on every load combinations that I have since vertical and horizontal loads are combined. Is there any way I can get the overturning ratio without using STAAD foundation ?

Results along line

Hi all,

I have a query regarding interpretation of the results of plate analysis.

When i am using results along line command for quadrilateral plate elements near supports the shear stress value (QLY) is nearer to the total shear force at the section.

But when we are using triangular elements near the supports the shear value is not at all matching with the total reactions.

Can you just explain about the command " Results along line" and its usage?

Will it gives the total shear force and total moment at the section along the line whatever may be the orientation of plate elements.

Regards,

Hi,

Currently I am using AISC 360-10, I assigned slenderness value 200 ( main 200) to members.

some of the members are fail in slenderness but STAAD result shows "pass" could you please tell me why it happens ?

please see attached snap below.

Currently I am working on the shed having dimension of ( L=26.5m, B=22m & H= 20.5m) .

I am facing Problem to check deflection for the roof member having length of 22 meter ( column to column) ,

I made two separate STAAD file , Difference are described below :

1) Sloped roof having angle of 5.7 degree (Aprox) , In STAAD the Sloped roof member shows failure in defection check.

2) Where i made second file that having flat roof member (i.e no slope at roof member) in which STAAD shows this member Pass in deflection check.

Why STAAD showing this result ?

For your reference i have attached STAAD files. communities.bentley.com/.../STAAD-portal.stdcommunities.bentley.com/.../STAAD-portal_2800_-top-member-flat_2900_.std
