MOT Construction Staging in OpenRoads (GEOPAK)

How can construction staging be modeled in GEOPAK SS4? Before OpenRoads, we typically had plan sheets and typical sections to show staging for lane shifts, temporary pavement, crossovers, etc. Quantity calculations were quite cumbersome for each phase. How can OpenRoads make this more efficient? Would each phase be modeled as a separate corridor? Each with its' own terrain model?

Templates: slope offset

Hi.

I would like to create a point in my ORD template that is perpendicular to other points in that template. Currently 3 is create with two constraints: a Horizontal offset from from 1 and a Vector-Offset between parents 1 and 2.

Is it possible to create 4?

End Condition Templates (Tie Downs)

Is there a way to trim an end condition so that it stops at the proposed grade rather than the existing ground? This is a 1:4 tie down. Thank you!

Right of way labels not displaying when cutting Cross Sections to sheets in PowerGeopak SS10 version 08.11.09.918

Does anyone know why my Right of Way labels aren't displaying when I cut cross sections to sheets but they show up in my dynamic cross section view?

XSEC Named Boundaries not respecting active terrain model?

Hi,

We've run into an issue where, when making Cross-Section Named Boundaries, specifying a nonzero clearance (10' up and 10' down in our case), Openroads doesn't seem to be using the active terrain. Seems like the 10' is only respecting the corridor components. From what I understand, it would be respecting the existing terrain as well.

This results in the terrain being "cut off". See picture for example.

Anyone know what's happening here?

[ORD 2021 R2] Profile Annotation Moving Yet Again

This issue has plagued me for years and still seems to not be resolved. Yes, the dancing profile annotation issue. I have set the MS_Auto_Update_Fields variable to Never and have browsed this forum ad nauseum looking for a solution to no avail. It doesn't help that working for a private entity I am at the mercy of our IT department and beyond that - whatever standards the DOT puts out. And they are never prompt or correct. I don't even want to know how many times I have fixed the profile annotation across this whole project, just for it to revert back again at some random time. So much wasted time on this. If anyone has a suggestion please! And I have asked the DOT to look into this multiple times and never get a straight answer. I cannot be the only one dealing with this critical issue!

All of my drainage inlets have disappeared in my model!!! They have been replaced with a generic box.

I am using Open Roads Designer (2021 Release 2) 10.10.21.04, FDOT connect.

The issue I have been having is that I designed a whole drainage network, had cut cross sections and was labeling the cross sections. I noticed yesterday when I am looking at my cross sections that my drainage structures were modified instead of being the cross section of an inlet, it was displaying a generic box that was not in the right location. This is happening at all my inlets.

Below is what it is supposed to look like. This is from a pdf I had printed before.

I went back to my design file so I can see what was happening. I had originally drawn a Type 4 inlet in there but it was not just a box.

This is what the structure looked like in a previous PDF I had printed

Looking at the structure information nothing seems out of the ordinary.

I cant seem to change the structure back.

As a test I tried to place another inlet. But when I am placing the inlet there is no feature definition usually there is a picture of a drainage inlet that I can place. Instead there is a box that says STM on it. When I place the structure, it is not placed in plan view. However, if I go in to the node report I can see that the structure is listed.

I just tried to open the file a little bit ago and I saw the following message. I was not sure what it meant, and I hit no.

Can somebody please help. Any ideas of what it could be?? Is the file corrupted? Could it be an ORD setting??

ORD - Moved profile named boundary

I moved the profile named boundary in my container model with the "Adjust profile named boundary" tool.

When I go to my sheet drawing model and reannotate the profile the grid annotation doesn't update.

Is there a trick to get the file to recognize the new profile boundary and vertical alignment location?

ORD Cross sections have solid shapes that print black

I am using ORD CE 2021 R2 and am having an issue with the cross section elements showing up as solid (fill) shapes that print solid black or gray. The element template only defines the level which should have a line weight of 0 and a material. I have no idea where the fill shape is coming from or why it prints.

Any suggestions?

How to stop annotation text from updating?

I am using OpenRoads Designer Connect edition and am attempting to create some plan-profile sheets. I used the named boundary tool to create plan and profile drawing models and then utilized "model annotation" to annotate the alignment and profile, however I then need to drag some labels around to remove conflict as well as edit some of the labels to remove part of the label that the client does not want on the sheets. It seems pretty random but the annotations will reset to the original position and contain all of the original information (undo my deletions). How can I stop this from happening?

I have tried setting the update fields automatically to false, however this caused my stationing on the alignment to start at 0+00, instead of the 50+00 that it is set to, and did not always keep it from happening.

I also tried dropping the cells several times so as to loose the smart features they contain, however several of the multi line annotations break down into unusable pieces.

Please help as this is incredibly frustrating.

My milling (2") is different from my resurfacing (2.5"). How can I set this correctly in my Template Design?

Main Question/Discussion:

In my template set up, I currently have a Friction Course and Structural Course Overlay component.. They each are 1.25" (0.10-ft)..

I have my Milling and Overbuild Striping Components with its default settings below the Structural Course Overlay Component... I never have changed these settings before..

How can I set this up correctly so that the overlay components (resurfacing, IE top surface) is higher than existing ground?
Currently, I have my template points on the top Friction Course overlay component to project to surface...I imagine that should not be the case? I am simply confused on this ordeal. ANY help is appreciated...

2nd Question/Discussion:

In most projects I have recently worked on, the default values of Milling and Overbuild I have never touched, (what I milled MATCHED what I resurfaced)... Should those striping components be updated always?

Update #1 (10/13/2022): It appears I might have to make profiles (0.5" above existing) along my CL, Lane Lines, EOPs, and Shoulder Lines... Will test this out when I have the chance. Still confused with the Milling/Overbuild Stripping components.

Move geometry point of complex element

I used complex by element to complex two lines into one line.

My issue that is a gap occurred when I move point of this line as picture below:

Please help to guide me how to fix this issue for the existing complex line? Actually, I have one center line with a lot of location like that.

I want to make connection for this existing complex line, similar with "persist snap" or something like that, as well as I don't want to re-draw it.
