I am encountering some limitations for the units per page on Template Studio. In the template setup area, I understand that the plot area must be in a whole number of millimeters, however Template Studio also requires that scale be a whole number. Due to the conversion factors between millimeters and feet, it's more or less impossible to set a precise units per page. See screenshots below.

Is there a way around this issue? If not, does Bentley intend to fix it? It's my understanding that this could easily be fixed by allowing decimal values for the scale.

Thanks,

I have a doubt/issue when mapping in openground cloud progessional.

As shown in the image attched below, I import rotary core in easting and northing coordinates and then I convert these coordinates into latitude and longitude.

The thing is that when trying to map the rotary cores, in the easting and northing columns I need to put the latitude and longitude values in order to see the RC in the map. If I put the original values in the column that belongs each value, tha map appears as blank.

My question is that if OpenGround needs to assume the values of latitude and longitude in the easting and northing columns in order to map properly.

Thank you very much for your time and help,

In my case, I set up the Civil 3D template for long linear project with borings located along the centerline alignment and thought it would be short work to automatically generate the 20 plan and subsurface profile sheets. That turned out not to be the case. I set up a single profile with approximately 90 boring strips displayed and ran Civil3d's Plan Production routine to generate the 20 individual Plan and Profile sheets. As I expected, the few sheets looked pretty nice but then I then ran into scenarios where a bunch of borings were clustered very close together in the vicinity of the the match lines, so in profile, the wide boring strips and text would encroach on the profile's Vertical Axis and labels. I was handing the project off to draftsman for further cleanup and for consistency's sake, I didn't want them messing with adding gaps in the Profile View Styles, or messing around with wipeouts, or worse, going the the master profile and deleting an offending boring strip.

So I tried the Plan Production again and this time had a blank profile which was necessary for the Plan Production to setup the profile in the individual sheets. My thought was to add the borings to each of the individual profiles in the sheets but that failed because OGC didn't recognize the predefined profile in the sheet and wouldn't add the strips to it. I then used the main alignment to create the profile strips and then modified the Profile View's stations to match the plan's station range, but that only worked for the first 5 sheets and after that OGC would not draw any borings strips in these partial profiles.

I finally wound up creating a new alignment in each sheet between the plan's match lines in order to create the profiles, then turning off the display of the alignment so that the master centerline alignment would show through.

While this wasn't a tremendous amount of work to generate the 20 plan and profile sheets, I feel that Civil 3D's Plan Production and OpenGround Cloud should have worked together better and made this a much simpler task than it turned out to be. I probably didnt think the process through before i started setting up the templates, so I am interested in hearing if anyone has a workflow that would stream line this process better than what I did

Thanks - Mike

Quick Log Scale / Units Per Page values as attributes in Enterprise

Similar to how the Default Template and Default Strip are assigned to a Location Type in a configuration Pack, can the Quick Log Scale or Units per Page also be associated to a specific Location Type? We are using several different log templates and have created corresponding Location Types to match these templates so that a Quick Log will display the correct template. Unfortunately, some of these templates have different ending depths on their first page, requiring the user to change the scale each time a Quick Log is displayed. It would be hugely beneficial to the user if this scale value could be stored as an attribute to the Location Type, similar to the Default Template and Default Strip Set are, otherwise the user has to know that Quick Log template A needs to be scaled as 188 and Quick Log template B needs to be scaled as 225.

I am also having difficulty in understanding how the Units per Page actually works in Quick Log. I presumed that this option sets the ending depth displayed on the first page, but I am not seeing the correlation. With the Units/page set to 25, my depth scale on the first page ends at 20 feet. I would like the first page to end at exactly a depth of 30 feet, but a Units/Page=37 (scale=185) ends at 29.6 feet and a Units/Page=38 (scale=190) ends at 30.4 feet. A scale of 188 gets me close to 30 feet on the first page, but not exactly 30 feet.

Any advice on these issues would be greatly appreciated - thanks

Import Additional Data into Civil 3D or the Mapping tool in Professional

Hi Everyone,

We frequently like to show additional bits of data next to our borehole symbol on our plans, such as top of rock elevation, water elevation, thickness of organics etc.. I am looking to see if there is a customizable mechanism that will allow me to pull this additional data out of the database and bring into Civil 3D and OGC mapping for display, whether that mechanism is updating a view in the database, or other configurations that can be made by a user or an admin.

While some of the data we need to display with the boreholes on the plan, such as ground surface elevation, station and offset is currently available for labeling, it appears to me that in both Civil 3D and in the Professional Mapping that this data is limited only a few fields in the "Location Details" table.

I am interested in hearing about any work-around that will allow me to bring in additional data from the database for labelling in Civil 3D and Professional Mapping.

Thanks in advance,
