[MicroStation CONNECT Ed. u13] _USTN_LOCALE_LANGUAGE

_USTN_LOCALE_LANGUAGE is a predefined and locked variable. According to recommendations I'm using this var to set some configuration issues.

Now I have computers on which my config does not work as the variable points to 'de', although the application is started in english (en) (and no language pack is installed anymore, either).

Where does MicroStation draw the language from? I can't find _USTN_LOCALE_LANGUAGE set (as a definition) anywhere in the config, only as a reference.

[MS CE u13] default reference setting for visible edges

I just noticed that if you drag&drop models into the view or the reference dialog and use the 'recommended' referencing setting the visible edge setting for 3D attachments is now set to 'CachedAlert'.

I also found that a new variable MS_REF_VISEDGE_ATTACH_STATE may set this back to dynamic, but it does only work for referencing 'interactively'. Does anybody know how to set the default for 'recommended' drag&drop referencing?

MS_REF_DEFAULTSETTING have been considered as alternatives, too, but there is no documented setting for 'visibleEdges'.

[UPDATE]

I'm using MicroStation V8i (SELECT series 3) and I want to make some changes to a "User-defined" toolbox created many years ago with another version.

This toolbox sets active a pre-established layer, linking everything I draw to a specific layer with specific parameters. Let's say we have the layer "Corte" associated to the first tool of this toolbox. If I select this tool, it then starts to place a line on "Corte" layer, with same colour and width established to that layer. This Toolbox is called "linhas".

For that to happen, a DGN file (named "niveis") was created in order to have those layers information, although it's not possible to draw in this file. It seems like it's used as a seed file further on, as fas as I know. This file is located in Workspace > Standards > Seed

I now basically just want to update some of their colours, as well as adding a new tool for a new layer, and for that I need to edit the original Toolbox setup. I've created a layer called "TESTE", which I want to be yellow. I want to add a tool that automatically associates what I draw to that layer.

When I open the "Customize" window, this toolbox appears on the "Application Tools > MicroStation" rather than "User Tools". I've digged a lot in this and other forums, and they all suggest that new toolboxes should be created in User Tools with DGNLIB files.

The next image shows what it looks when I reach the toolbox "linhas". It looks nothing but editable.

I've searched in every MIcrostation's data folder, and none of them has any file with this toolbox's name. I need some help locating this file so I can edit it.

My conclusion is that it was made right down the code. I need to reach the right file so I can edit it. I'm possibly looking for a .RSC or .MA file, so I can edit using MDL tools.

Another possible scenario is that, since it was created many years ago in an older version of Microstation, it may have been created in "User Tools" as a DGNLIB, and when it migrated to newer versions, it then went to Application Tools.

Any suggestions?

[v8i c#] Reload attachments, instead of reattaching them.

Does anyone know if there is a way to reload attachments (references) instead of re-attaching them. We are running into (Level table?) override issues since Caching the files and then reattaching them via c# addin. We presume that a reload, just like when initiating it from the reference Dialog as a user, will Keep the overrides as they are. Right now they re getting chaotic or just Show up correctly when loading the file a second time (and the file is still available in the Cache).

Sorry I can't give code Details. I'm no developer, just trying to help my colleagues from a user/Administrator Point of view...

How to set proxy settings for MicroStation CE deployment package creation?

In previous versions one could set the proxy settings in order to enable the package creation process to download optional content (such as visualization content etc.). Currently downloading fails, and I'm behind a proxy. Should the setup process use the IE settings (these are set already and are correct)?

Undo Dimension text move

Hi,

When I have a dimension, I can use the "Modify Element" tool to move the text of the dimension. If I do NOT do this, the text will auto-center on the dimension when the length is changed. After I move the text, then it will not auto-center. How do I reset the text to auto-center on the dimension line?

[v8i] all levels

Trying to answer the question from my earlier thread '[v8i] level manager' I stumbled upon the 'all levels' setting. Although this doesn't solve the issue discussed in that thread I might ask:

Has anyone practical use for the filter setting 'all levels' in the level manager? ( It's preconfigured and you cannot remove it. But I don't see no sense (although I'm working with MicroStation for more than a decade now), as it does the same thing as selecting 'none' as filter, doesn't it? Moreover you can also select 'all levels' on the left hand side of the LM (just above 'Filters'), but both settings are not linked... and why not collapsing the model tree above? ... that would also show you 'all levels' ... )

Collection of Shared Cell issues

what are the difficulties of Shared Cells, compared to conventional cells ...

... confirmed? (If you're not sure first hand, please note this)

My observations are:

Levels are being marked "used", although no element appears on it
shared cell nested in shared cell is troublesome
as a user, no way to easily detect, if an existing cell is a shared one

any more?

[v8i] level manager

As a cad admin I have to answer a question from one of my users who is complaining that the level manager is no longer displaying 'all' levels when selecting a reference from the 'models, levels, filter' part (on the left hand side) of the level manager. He says that previously all levels were visible so that he could set his level overrides regardless of the levels 'physically' already existing in the specific reference. In my opinion the user is wrong as 'our' levels come from libraries (via ms_dgnliblist .. not even manually attached), and the level manager displays library levels ONLY for the active model.

In other words: does anyone know of a scenario where the level manager shows library levels on the right hand side when a single reference is selected on the left hand side (selecting '+' and then marking one or more references, so he is NOT selecting the collapsed tree.. which would show all refernces indeed) ?

pltcfg: disable color modes < repeated

I repeat my question from sept. 29th as it probably got dropped due tue community restart:

I'm looking for a way to disable the color mode option in the plot dialog through the .pltcfg, as we want to create them to be either only for color print, or monochrome. Users should not be able to change the color mode, but in .pltcfg I can only set it as a default value. (I know that I can disable print preferences and disable to edit the printer driver, but the option is right there in the plot gui and I have no way of disabling it.)

alternativly, I'd like to know if there is a printing accounting variable which would enable us to check on the color mode, just like there is a ms_pltscale which sets the current plot scale.
