Chainage Not Showing on WinALC Export (ORD 10.11.00.115)

Hi - hope someone can help, please. Now the XML export feature is fixed with chainage showing against the cant (thanks!!), I wanted to try out the WinALC export as we need to do this for producing geometry files for our tampers.

I exported my design from MX in LandXML format, as usual, and imported into ORD 2022 R1 U11. That's all okay. I've gone through the usual steps to re-add the cant and export the to WinALC (not Smart ALC, as I don't use this). This is where I'm having some trouble.

My steps:

- I imported the LandXML file into ORD using the Import Geometry tool

- Used the Speed Table function

- Used the Create Cant on my centreline... and so far so good!

- Time to use Export Geometry from the centreline alignment... and it seems to work using the Plasser and Theurer option! But when checking the export, I noticed a big problem.

I can see the chainage is correct for my horizontal and vertical parts of the design when checking reports in ORD, and the same for the cant, but on the *.geo export, it all simply starts at 0m chainage and the end point is the extent of the job (in this case 1590m in length). It should be showing 269330m to 270920m. Cant is actually okay, and all the elements lengths and transitions are okay... it's just problematic starting at 0m rather than the proper start point.

Is this a similar issue to the old XML export problem, with a disconnect between the chainage of a design and the export?

I am trying to use the export corridor to IFC command and getting the below warnings from message centre.

And getting the below error and no file is created.

OpenRoads Designer - Cross sections in uneven stations

Hello there.

I am using OpenRoads Designer 2021 R1.

I would like to create cross sections per 20 m in St. 2+005, 2+025, 2+045, 2+065 etc. so I set my Named Boundary dialog like this:

But even though the first cross section is cut at St. 2+005, the rest are cut at even stations 2+020, 2+040, 2+060 etc.

In the old software I would toggle off a station lock, but I cannot find that in ORD.

Where do I tell the software to cut at 20 m intervals counting from the first station?

[ORD 2020R1] Station Offset Report doesn't show existing elevations

Hi, I am trying to report proposed and existing elevations along alignment at specified interval including level delta similar to annotation on profile.

I have tried the Station Offset Report on alignment with active existing terrain active. ProfileExistingProposedElevation.XSL looks like the best report for this task but the existing elevations and the cut fill depths are missing.

Is there anything I am missing? Is there any other way to compile such report e.g. modifying a stylesheet or perhaps using different reporting tool?

I have also tried Terrain > Analysis > Points > Analyze Elevation (in 3D model) but I can't specify the chainage interval and it doesn't report the chainage.

Rail Design Files Lacking with OpenRail Install

I recently had OpenRail Designer CE 2021 Release 1 installed and noticed that the _Civil Default Standards - Metric configuration is lacking in design files for rail. There are road design files, such as the AASHTO Design Standards 2018 - Metric.dgnlib and Speed Table Road Definitions.xml, but not all the necessary design files for rail. I do realize that design is dependent on what part of the world, whether it is light or heavy rail, etc. but providing at least the AREMA design standards as a base that we can copy and edit would be a great improvement on what is currently provided.

Yes, I did scan the Bentley community and searched Google to see if I could find rail design files floating around somewhere on the internet, but no luck so far, only a mention of Turnouts-AREMA.xml on this thread: communities.bentley.com/.../cn-rail-standard-turnout-library

Creating sheet seeds for A3 in 1:1000 - drawing is shifting in the sheets

Several times I have tried to create Sheet Definitions following the videos in the OpenRoads Designer WorkSpace Setup, step 7.

I have tried setting them up in A1 in 1:500 as you do in the videos and I have tried setting them up in A3 in 1:1000, as we would prefer. None of it gives me a useful result.
The delivered ones from the Metric workspace seems to work, but this is what I get, when I use the ones I create:

The drawing seed is offset from the sheet, and it gets worse for every sheet.

The border cells must have their origin in the lower left corner.

Can anyone please help me finding out what is going wrong?

I am using OpenRoads Designer Update 4.
I attach a zip containing sheet seed, preliminary border cell library, Plan_or_Profile_Start_Seed.dgn and the resulting dgnlib.

Terrain contour texts turn white when using Override Symbology on a referenced terrain model

We discovered that the text on the contours are turned white (and thus invisible when printing) when you use Override Symbology on a referenced terrain model:

I have created a video showing what is happening, but it is too large to post. Let me know if I can Email it to someone.

The problem may be solved by using level override for color on the reference or changing the Text Style, but that is not very elegant.

This must be a bug, right?

Automatic texts in the drawing head

Is there a way to automatically populate the text fields in a drawing head with e.g. drawing scale, date, WorkSet name, drawing sheet name etc?

Decimal separator comma - how to work with comma as a decimal separator in OpenRoads Designer?

For the last 25+ years InRoads/PowerCivil/OpenRoads have had an issue on and off with the decimal separator having to be period to make the software work properly.

Many Danish systems depend on the decimal separator being a comma, so it isn't always a solution to just change the regional settings to use period/dot as the decimal separator.

In PowerCivil we had the option to keeping comma as a decimal separator if we used the Variable Manager Add-In > Ignore regional settings for decimal separator:

But is there an equivalent workaround in MicroStation CE / OpenRoads Designer CE?

Is there a way to REFERENCE the Title block into the drawing Sheet Definition?

Hello there.

I am setting up drawings and have created the various sheets I will need in 3 Sheet Definition DGNLibs (plan, profile, Cross Section).

It would be neat if, when changing project, I only had to edit the title block once and not in every single sheet.

To avoid copying the entire title block into every sheets as graphics, I have tried in various ways to reference it into the Sheet Definition as well as the Sheet Seed, but it will not show on the drawings when using the Named Boundary method to create Civil drawings.

Am I missing something? Can someone help?

Text Favorite Manager - how do I copy and edit a text favorite?

I am using OpenRail Designer V.10.07.00.56 (only because Text Favorite Manager has disappeared from ORD U4).

I have copied a Text Favorite (that I created in 2018) using Text Favorite Manager, and I would like to change the format etc.

But even though I change what I want, click Accept and Save, the changes do not show in the top window (only in the Preview below) and the settings revert to Default (% instead of Per Mille).

What am I doing wrong?

By the way: why has Format drop-down text "Per Mille" changed to "Per Mile"?

How do I change the symbology of the terrain line in cross sections without modifying the terrain file?

I have a terrain, geometry, corridor and drawing-container i separate files and I am cutting cross sections using Named Boundary.

The terrain has a Feature Definition (and thus Element Template) making it grey:

The drawing container file has terrain, geometry and corridor attached to it.

When I cut Civil Cross Sections, the terrain shows as a grey line:

I would like the terrain line to be green instead.

So in the Default Model in the drawing contailer file I select the terrain and choose Overide Symbology and another Feature Definition.

The new FD uses this Element Template with Level Symbology of a level with green color:

But the terrain line in the cross sections does not change.

Changing the Override Symbology for the referenced Terrain file does not work either.

I have tried replacing the Terrain file with a copy where the Terrain has a "green" Feature Definition. This works.

But I do not want to keep a number of copies of my terrain for different display purposes.

So am I misunderstanding how to use the Override Symbology and how can I change the symbology of the terrain line in the cross sections?

How to create a new materials dgnlib for MicroStation (and ORD) CE?

I would like to have some extra materials to choose from other than the ones provided in the Workspace, so I'd like to create a new Custom_Materials.dgnlib.

I have a couple of png-images for a brighter asphalt, grass and gravel.

What is the best workflow to create a new dgnlib?

Where must the new dgnlib be put? In the Standards>Materials-folder? Are MS_BUMP, MS_PATTERN and MS_MATERIAL the only environment variable pointing to it?

Where do the png-files have to be placed? In the Standards>Material>bump and/or in the Standards>Materials>pattern folder? Or are they saved in the dgnlib?

Problem with changing element template material

A component using Feature Definition Grade_Bench does not show the material correctly (is is blank green instead of "grassy"). When choosing another material in the Element Template definition afterwards we can change the material once - but not back again. Please see the video.
So why does the component not show correctly and why does the material not change, when modifying the Element Template?

I hope someone can help.
