I recently starting using a version of Linux called Mageia 4 and love it. I plan to leave the Microsoft OS platform in favor of Linux in the near future. I really disliked Windoze 8, and I am disappointed in the direction and marketing tactics used by Microsoft. I left AutoCAD back in 2007 and switched to Bentley for the same reasons that Microsoft are now employing with their products.

I honestly believe that once more scientist and engineers discover the power, security and the highly customizable nature of Linux, they will be leaving Microsoft, it's only a matter of time. The forced up grades, lack of security, viruses and intrusive nature of Microsoft demand an alternative and that alternative is LINUX.

To me purchasing Windows is like buying a car with the hood wielded shut. With Linux, the hood is wide open so you can truly customize and control the system to your needs.

https://www.mageia.org/en/about/

http://linux.about.com/od/nwb_guide/

Give Linux a try for FREE! Once you get a taste of freedom you'll never look back.
Mageia is only one version of Linux, there are several others for you to explore.

So Bentley, can Linux get your support?

I would like to add some extra text (could be as well number/value) information to existing string but can't find any smart solution. My string is created with 008/010 and its points are extracted from another string - strictly from normal intersection (5= and 8=). This SPRD (chainage) of normal I would like to storage as additional information which should be drawable. This string is representing gullies so I need standard X,Y and Z but need also to label reference string's chainage (i.e. Z=123.45, CH=678.90).

Now, I'm creating another string with the same points with 008 and changing its Z value to related chainage value (must be very careful). First string is drawn with symbol and Z value and second with Z value representing reference chainage.

This is the only way I found which doesn't need a knowledge about every point X,Y,Z coordinates (like cadastere string). Any ideas?

Best regards
Aleksander Zamorski

Last digit superscript

In some countries in constructions detailing the dimensions have 2 digits with the 3rd one as superscript like in the following example 1.235 . Is this achievable in MicroStation?

Thanks for helping,
