Here is the problem as it seems to occur, In PA we have some LIDAR data stored as DEMs it tends to be cleaner than the LAS data that is also provided. It actually is in PA state plane (north or south) and US survey feet. For some reason when ORD reads it, ORD thinks it is in meters but with units of survey feet. When you bring it in ORD trys to be clever and runs a conversion to make it survey feet which actually messes up the location. Again it actually is in US Survey feet. This used to happen in the old inroads too. when You did any imports you just forced the import coordinates and the file coordinates to be the same, that way no conversion happened and no error. Here is where the problem lies with DEMs and ORD. I can't seem to figure out how to change the coordinate system in the file options when importing the DEM. It is greyed out with no option to change it. I am guessing it pulls it from the DEM somehow. Is there a way to unlock the option to change what coordinate system for the file being imported is? Either that or a way to copy the coordinate definition from a dem (tif format) and create a custom coordinate definition so that the selected coordinate system can be the same? just need to stop the conversion. Thanks to any one who has any ideas!

Ask A Question I

Ask a question in a forum.

Learn Conferences 2017

Any word on when or if these are going to happen?
We’re excited to announce dates for Bentley Institute Learn Conference – OpenRoads events, with two options for you to engage with our subject matter experts who are here to help you succeed.

Infrastructure continues to transform the world in remarkable ways and engineers and designers are the driving force behind that change. At this year’s conference, we invite you to join us in Phoenix to learn about the latest new technologies in your field and the exciting developments on the horizon. Attendees will get to meet with product experts, industry peers, and the innovators behind the technology. In addition to this years conference we will be hosting an encore virtual learning experience. This complimentary virtual learning experience offers an encore of the three most popular sessions from the Phoenix conference.

We have a set of custom line styles that print correctly when sent to PDF individually. They also print correctly when printed through print organizer with the exception of when you are in one of the files. If that occurs that file will print the line styles incorrectly and the other files will be fine. Example: you are in File A and print A-F in print organizer. File A's custom line styles will be printed incorrectly but B-F's will be fine. If you then print the exact same organizer file from file B the problem moves to file B and A and C-F are now fine.

Obviously the quick fix is to go into an unrelated file and print the set and all come out correctly but theoretically, and in my past experience this hasn't been necessary. I have tried several fixes and am coming up empty. There are no command line modifiers, organizer is set (by MS_PRINTORGANIZER_OPEN_DGN_READWRITE) to open in read/write so it should have access to whatever it needs to function. Hopefully you all know of something that may cause this or have seen it before.
