  • RE: STAAD PRO V22 - RESULTING OF APPLIED FORCES

Hello, Silvia, You can do this by performing analysis with the static check box clicked as shown in the snapshot below. It will print for you in the output file the summation of the applied load as well as reactions for each load case.

Utilization ratio is not reported for concrete design. However you would get the required reinforcement for each element reported in the analysis output file, as shown next. If you are not seeing this, please make sure that the DESIGN ELEMENT command…

The thickness of the plates has been considered as 127mm. You need to change that to 12.7mm

This is happening because element design has not been implemented for the ACI 318-14 code. When you specify code as ACI it defaults to the 2014 code. If you modify the code to be ACI 2011 as shown next, you would be able to get the element design as you…

Further to my post below, we observed that this issue may be caused if you have an older version of CONNECT Advisor. If you could download the latest version of CONNECT Advisor application ( ver 10.01.00.283) then the videos should work. Instructions…

Seems like the recent changes to the Bentley Identity management system has messed things up. I will reach out to the appropriate department to get this taken care of. For now if you need to access the trainings, please go to https://learn.bentley.com…

  • RE: RESPONSE SPECTRUM MODAL ANALYSIS

Yes you have to calculate the square root of summation of squares of the floor modal base actions to get the story forces at each level. There is no direct way to get the story forces reported in the output file for a spectrum loading. You can get that…

For a response spectrum analysis you cannot add the individual story shears to get the base shear. The reason for that is explained in the following wiki. The base shear is the one reported by the software. https://communities.bentley.com/products/ram…

For a custom response spectrum, there is no automatic way to account for the accidental eccentricity. This is what you can do. Use the SET PRINT 17 command before the JOINT COORDINATES in your input command file and the analysis output file would then…

Defining only spectrum for load case 5 is fine as the dynamic mass for all cases will be calculated based on the load input provided as part of the first dynamic load case. You do not have to specify a master node. Rather leave it to the software to…

The member loads have been defined correctly. The only thing you need to do is to move the loads ahead of the spectrum data. A modified file is attached. There is a difference in base shears when the member loads are included vs when they are not, which…

Correct. The ELEMENT DESIGN in STAAD.Pro as per the ACI 318 code just gives you the required reinforcement area. The onus is on the user to choose an appropriate bar size and spacing so that the required reinforcement area is satisfied. As you know, it…
