Inroads Suite - snaps not working with horizontal and vertical alignments

We have been using inroads for years and we've noticed in the latest version of inroads (ss2) something is broke when snapping. You can't snap to elements when doing vertical or horizontal alignments. It snaps quickly and then goes back. I've tried element lock and snap lock on and off and it doesn't change this behavior. Every once and a while it will work correctly but only if you go out of MS and go back in.

ProjectWise InterPlot Organizer and ProjectWise InterPlot Server CONNECT Edition Released

ProjectWise InterPlot Organizer and ProjectWise InterPlot Server CONNECT Edition are now available from the Fulfillment Center.

New in ProjectWise InterPlot CONNECT Edition:

CONNECT Edition Support – ProjectWise InterPlot Organizer is now compatible with CONNECT Edition releases of ProjectWise, MicroStation, PowerDraft and other MicroStation-based applications.
Support for PDF/A-1b Standard – PDF/A-1b is now supported in ProjectWise InterPlot Organizer when exporting to PDF, and also in digital archiving when creating PDF as an additional format.
AutoCAD 2014 and 2015 Support – AutoCAD 2014 and 2015 DWG files are now supported as input formats and the APLOT dialog is supported in AutoCAD 2014 and 2015 versions. The RealDWG component is necessary for processing DWG files from these versions of AutoCAD.
Microsoft Office Support – ProjectWise InterPlot Organizer is now compatible with Office 2010, 2013, 2016, and 365, including 32-bit and 64-bit versions.
Processing Engine Requirement– InterPlot Organizer requires MicroStation, PowerDraft, Bentley View, or a compatible MicroStation-based application to act as a processing engine for the plotting of DGN and DWG files. This release no longer bundles Bentley View in the InterPlot Organizer setup files. However, if you do not already have a compatible processing application installed, download the free Bentley View application or a MicroStation-based application from Bentley's software fulfillment center.
ProjectWise InterPlot Organizer CONNECT Edition is supported on Windows 7 (32 and 64-bit), Windows 8.1 (64-bit), Windows 10 (64-bit), Windows Server 2008 R2 (64-bit) and Windows Server 2012 R2 (64–bit). ProjectWise InterPlot Server CONNECT Edition is supported on Windows Server 2008 R2 (64-bit) and Windows Server 2012 R2 (64–bit).

ProjectWise InterPlot CONNECT Edition supports plotting from MicroStation J, V8 2004, V8 XM Edition, V8i, V8i (SELECTseries 1 -4) and CONNECT Edition. When plotting to ProjectWise InterPlot Server CONNECT Edition, a hard copy or electronic deliverable such as PDF and TIFF is created from a variety of formats, including DGN, DWG, industry standard raster, DPR, PDF and Microsoft Office files. list of license cross reference

Is there a list somewhere that states with a product "A" license you can run products "B", "C" o "D"? I know that inroads automatically upgraded to openroads at renewal but what options do we have available? Maybe this is where open access is a benefit for the user. Haven't seen one so far.

Bentley Learn over Roku

It's great that there is an app for the Ipad but what about the majority of people in the world that use android? Currently the only way to watch videos on my tv is to screencast them to my Roku. I tried using the beta firefox browser but it could not open the videos on the Learn server. Anyone know of any other ways to watch these things through a roku?

insert pdf into excel

We have a few users in our office that are opening excel files through projectwise and then are trying to simply insert pdf's into the excel files and we run into 2 different problems. All users are running office 2010 and the same version of projectwise explorer (v8i select series 4)(but this isn't really relevant). On some machines it seems to work as it should but on others it will act like it's loading the pdf into the file but it never shows up, or if you try to insert a pdf that isn't on projectwise you will get a continuous error saying that it is waiting for an OLE object. The only way to get out of this is to end excel in the task manager. There seems to be something wrong with the projectwise/office integration on these machines. The error you get this way is "microsoft excel is waiting for another application to complete an OLE action".

Any help would be appreciated.

INROADS VIEW CONTOUR LABEL BACKGROUND MASK

We have had our preferences set for inroads for a long time and recently we started having trouble where the background mask for the text was showing up white. I looked at the text styles we are using for labeling our contours and they were both set to color 254. I set everything to bg (background) and it still isn't working the way it should. It only cuts off the lower contour not the contour in which the label is for nor the ones above it. When plotting through Iplot it plots just like on the screen. At first I thought it might have something to do with being a 3d file so I displayed my contours in a 2d file and have the same results. I looked through the forums and someone mentioned that if you change the level priority of the text level it will mask correctly. I did this and it does seem to work but then when I plot, the text no longer shows up.

I'm running 08.11.09.459 with inroads 08.11.07.615

At this point, I have no idea why it's not working anymore but just want to figure out a way to fix it. We did find a weird work around but I don't like having to do that when we didn't have to before. If you change text attributes and have graphic group on, and change the style to the same style that is used when displaying the contours in the first place, then it masks correctly and by having graphic group on it changes all of them at once.

changing dimension style on a note makes you need to replace note

This has been a problem for some time now and I'm wondering if anyone has ever come up with a resolution. I know notes are kind of a *** where they aren't really text or dimension but yet we need to be able to use them on a daily basis. If a note is placed and then later it is found that it was made using the wrong dimension style or text style you can change the text height by changing the text properties and update the arrow size using using the change dimension but the in line leader and text placement never seems to adjust properly. We have always needed to place the note again which is very time consuming. The problem I have is illustrated in the picture below:

If I change the scale from 1"=1' to say 1.5"=1' in the model I get the results below:

If I place a new note and then change the scale everything works as it should. It seems to only be a problem if you change the dimension style after it was placed. BTW everything is using annotation scale just to be clear.

Projectwise plot stamp not giving full path

We have been using projectwise for about a year now and one thing that all users find annoying is that the plot stamp that we have always used, is no longer valuable to us as it doesn't give a real path to the file. I'm thinking the problem lies with the fact that we are not hosting our files locally but are using the bentley cloud which isn't updated until the files is "checked in". The paths we get are IP_PWP:DMS00455\ then the file name. Is there a setting somewhere that we can change to correct this?

trying to fit vertical curve to existing using vertical regression (inroads ss2)

I'm trying to use vertical regression to make a best fit vertical alignment that is close to the existing grade from a surveyed DTM. When I go to add vertical regression point, I have 3 options.

1) Horizontal regression points - If I use this, I get a point not found error as I didn't do a horizontal regression. We were provided a horizontal baseline just not vert.

2) Points - this allows you to pick cogo points one by one but I have 100's of points. There doesn't seem to be a way to pick multiples.

3) Alignments - this allows you to select your horizontal alignment and it will place a regression point at the cardinals in the horizontal but that is not refined enough as it's placing my points 100's of feet from each other.

If there was just a way to use more of the cogo points it would be fine.

Anyone know how to do this?

profile along wall that doesn't follow baseline

I have a weird situation that I'm not sure how to do using Inroads.

I have a retaining wall that is on a curve that I need to show the "developed" elevation view of and display the baseline stationing which is on a different curve center. I also need to show the proposed ground line at the front face of barrier(gutter) and front face of wall (1.75' offset from gutter). I have those as two different surfaces.

Probably the easiest thing to do would be to cut the profile at front face of wall and then take the one surface at that point and the other surface offset 1.75'. The problem is, I need the stationing to be shown along the baseline not the wall itself so 50' won't actually be 50'.

The other option would be to have show the baseline correctly but I'm not sure how you would then show the two surfaces since they aren't a constant offset from the baseline.

Anyone have any ideas?

This is using Inroads Select series 2.

user not getting right click context menu

We have one user that is not getting the right click context menu. When I open the Customize menu, I can see that the GUI.dgnlib is not being loaded which is where these are held so I believe that is the problem. I thought it would be simple enough to copy that dgnlib from another machine and put it on his machine but when I search the C drive, for dgnlib that one isn't showing up. Where in the world is this file stored?

inroads existing pavement box in cross sections

I'm trying to figure out how to display my existing pavement layers in my proposed cross sections. My existing surface was created by survey and I roughly have 3 points for the existing pavement (left edge, cl, right edge). I know the pavement thicknesses but have no idea how to make pavement boxes using existing data. I've made them for proposed roadways using the roadway designer with the proposed horizontal and vertical alignment but I'm not sure how to do it for existing.

I've seen videos for geopak but not for inroads. From what I'm guessing, you need to create an alignment using the existing cl feature. You can then use this for your vertical as well. You then apply a template to it but use point controls with both vertical and horizontal controls setting the pavement box edges to the edge of pavement features.

Please let me know if there is an easier way as this seems way more complicated than it should be.

After I'm done is there a way to combine with the old existing surface without doing a merge?

IPLOT - very slow

Our office recently added iplot while our main office has had it for a while now without any trouble. Everyone in our office is having all kinds of problems with iplot being VERY slow to load the ips files and then if you need to change any of the settings it seems to take forever for the dialog box to come up and then it takes a while to apply the settings to the files. There is something that is making our configuration slower than the main office. Has anyone had any similar problems?

I just today timed the time it takes to plot through Iplot and it took 7 minutes to update, assign a set file and print 4 files while through print organizer using the same iplot scripts took just 30 seconds. I posted this yesterday in another forum but I don't think many people go into that one so I re-posted. I know, I'm bad.

Logical Names in References

Can someone explain the benefits of using logical names for reference files if you ARE NOT going to use logical names to post process your plots? This is the only benefit to using logical names that I could find and was curious if anyone uses them for any other purpose.
