Question on "Width of all Compressive Struts" of "Hammer STM"

Hi, Dear all,

In the "Hammer STM" dialogue, "Width of all Compressive Struts" is a required input. Could you please let me know what exactly it is? Please have a look at the attached picture first (from AASHTO LRFD 2014).

Question 1: In picture a), there are two transverse dimensions for a strut. One is la*sin(theta), the other is 6da. Which one is the "width of compressive struts" in RC Pier?

Question 2: The angle and la are different from strut to strut. How can we decide the input value in the "Hammer STM" dialogue? since it is for "all Compressive Struts".
