  • RE: RAM Concept - Bug in tendonTool to Export tendon Profiles from RAM Concept in tabular form to Excel

    Seth Guthrie
    Seth Guthrie
I'll let Wentao know about this since he wrote that utility. Meanwhile, you can also export data directly from the tables. For example Layers - Latitude (or Longitude) Prestressing - Manual tendons - Tables - Tendons or Tendon points. There is also a…

Hi Carl, You are correct, the utility was using exact numerical match between the DXF entities which caused some issues when matching skewed tendons. This has been remedied (DXF entities are now considered matched if within 0.1 mm). The updated utility…

  • Export Ram Concept PT tabular data

Ram Concept can export Tendon tables and Tendon Points table. It's current functionally lacks the association between the Tendon and Tendon points (we cannot ascertain the physical location of the tendons based on the tables alone). Below workflow and…

  • RE: Design methodology recommendation for using Ram Staad and Ram concept to design an Irregular Structure

The model you sent is challenging (an upside-down pyramid shape with central opening). Given the current state of software my approach would be to model the whole thing in 3D in some general purpose finite element program like STAAD.pro (or Ram Elements…

The statement is similar to the statements made on the RAM Structural System-RAM Concept wiki page below. You may find the statements on that page less confusing. http://communities.bentley.com/products/structural/structural_analysis___design/w/structural_analysis_and_design__wiki…

In RAM Concept, columns are point objects. The program does not add a rigid area that is bounded by the width and depth of the column. The last paragraph under "Why does the load history deflection increase when the column depth is increased?" on the…

Please check the manual Section "52.8.4 Calculating the forces on the cross section" which explains it better than I can. We actually use nodal force to determine section forces which is more exact than using other methods.

For the gravity loads the next axial force in the strip is small so moment due to the eccentricity of the axial force to the centroid of the sections is small. In the balanced load case the PT is treated as a series of point loads acting on the mesh…

When the program plots or reports strip moments it is doing so based on the centroid of the sections in the design strip. When strips are trimmed differently the elevation location of this centroid changes and as a result the plotted moment changes too…
