To Resolve this Issue:

In Windows Explorer, navigate to the C:\Program Files (x86)\Bentley folder. Right-click on the Bentley folder and select Properties from the pop-up menu. On the Securities tab, select the Users name and 'Edit' the permissions. You need to allow Full control Permissions for Users.

2. On the General tab, uncheck “Read-Only”, select Apply and then OK. When prompted to Confirm Attribute Changes, toggle on "Apply changes to this folder, subfolders and files" and select OK. If prompted, select Continue on the Access Denied dialog and Ignore All on the Error Applying Attributes dialog.

3. Try to launch the product.

4.
Version(s):

08.11.07+

Area:

Geometry Design

This workflow will demonstrate how to create a “best fit” centerline alignment between two edge of pavement horizontal alignments.

For this example, there are two existing horizontal alignments. One represents the left edge of pavement (shown in green), and one represents the right edge of pavement (shown in red).

Display these two alignments using the command Geometry > View Geometry > Horizontal Annotation. Make sure to turn on the options to “Display as Complex Linestring” and “Planarize”.

Within MicroStation, use the Move/Copy Parallel command to create offsets of the two alignments to the outside of the originals.

Use the InRoads command Surface > Design Surface > Set Elevation to set the elevation of the two new linestrings to an elevation of 10’.

Now you have the two original alignments at elevation of zero and two offset alignments at elevations of 10’.

Use the command Surface > Design Surface > Generate Longitudinal Feature to create the best fit centerline feature.

On the Generate Longitudinal Feature dialog, click on the Controls tab. Set the Horizontal Method to “Project Two Slopes”.

One the Main tab, set the interval, set the feature style to “breakline” and toggle on the Generate Graphics Only option.

Click Apply. You are prompted to “Identify First Element for Slope 1”. Select the original left edge of pavement and accept.

You are prompted to “Identify Second Element for Slope 1”. Select the offset to the left edge of pavement and accept.

You are prompted to “Identify First Element for Slope 2”. Select the original right edge of pavement and accept.

You are prompted to “Identify Second Element for Slope 2”. Select the offset to the right edge of pavement and accept.

You are prompted to “Identify Reference Element”. Select the original left edge of pavement and accept.

You are prompted to “Identify beginning>Reset for Entire”. Click the reset to accept the entire left edge of pavement.

You are prompted to “Identify beginning>Reset for Entire”. Click the reset to accept the entire left edge of pavement.

This graphic can be imported as the centerline alignment using the command File > Import > Geometry. On the From Graphics tab, set Type to Horizontal Alignment. Key in a name for the alignment.

Click apply to identify and accept the centerline graphic.

Jacquelyn Pettus, Bentley Technical Support Group

To display components in existing cross sections, you should use the Evaluation>Cross Section>Cross Sections command.

Use the selector button to select the correct cross section set. Expand the Update Cross Sections folder and highlight Components. Set the Mode to Display On and select the correct surface. All available components will be displayed.

Please see the screenshot below. This screenshot shows the components that are available for display in the cross section set. You will also notice in the screenshot there are components in black, red and gray text.

If the component name is in black text, then select the component(s) and hit apply to display them in the cross section set.

If the component is in gray text, the style needs to be edited in the style manager to allow for display in the cross sections. Make sure that Components is toggled on in the Surface Feature>Settings leaf of the Edit Style dialog.

If this component name is in red text, the feature style is not defined in the style manager. One option is to simply change the style name under Surface > Feature > Feature Properties.

Another option is to create the style in the Style Manager so the component(s) can be displayed in the cross section. The new style may be created by going to Tools > Style Manager. Once in the Style Manager, the exact style name must be created that was used for the feature.

Once all the styles/symbologies have been verified and are displayed in black text, return to the Update Cross Section command to display them.

In the microstation menu, go to Workspace>Function Keys

Highlight the key you wish to assign a value to

Key in “mdl l” and then the path to the ma in the Action field

On a 64bit machine, it would be mdl l "C:\Program Files (x86)\Bentley\InRoads Group V8.11\bin\civustat.ma"

On a 32bit machine, it would be mdl l "C:\Program Files\Bentley\InRoads Group V8.11\bin\civustat.ma"

(Please note that these are the default locations of the ma, if you have installed InRoads in a different directory, you will need to use that path to the ma – just search for “civustat.ma”. Also, you need the quotation marks in the command line for it to load.)

When was AutoCAD 2012 added to the list of compatible platforms?

March 2012 AutoCAD 2012 was added to the compatible platforms for InRoads Update V08.11.07.566

Where are the updates/patches located for download?

The updates and patches are located under "Enhancements and Updates" after searching for the Bentley InRoads product.

How can the update for InRoads V08.11.07.536 (V08.11.07.566) be uninstalled?

The InRoads entire product must be uninstalled to uninstall the update. (The update cannot be uninstalled separately.)
