The text (or text node) will become an XFM feature and the property is loaded with the text string. If the property already exists, it is updated. The result can be exported to a point SHP file including the text property. Note : An XFM schema is not needed. e.g. in the case a session feature (a level name) is selected, and the property names are entered manually. The dialog offers: A list with available features that is deferred from the XFM schema and optional from the available levels. A list with existing properties from the selected feature. If needed, a new property name can be entered manually for both the text property and the rotation property. Optionally the rotation of the text string can be stored in a property. With the Process button a selection set, fence or the whole DGN file is scanned for the selected input feature or level.

File: clipmodel4

File: clipmodel3

File: clipmodel2

File: clipmodel1

File: ClipModel

File: STAAD.Pro Application Examples help files

Product: STAAD.Pro Version: V8i (SELECTseries 3) (20.07.08) Package contents: Application_Examples_American_2007.chm and Application_Examples_British_2007.chm Last Updated: 24 June 2011 Note: This document is also available as a downloadable (.PDF) book or as a physical book (for purchase) at docs.bentley.com . UPDATES v0.1.2 ============== -Fixed problem with ref. file display status erroneously reported. -Fixed crash caused by ref. file display off (when off, there are no levels to report). -Blocks in DWG files are detected as shared cells (cells always have shared status in DWG files). -Printing instructions added. -Modified CAUTIONS section. DESCRIPTION =========== Provides a cursory report on a DGN or DWG file: -Active file full path and file name. -For each model in the file: -The Model's Name -For DGN-only, the Model's Description -The Model's Dimension (2D/3D) -The unique Cells/Blocks placed in the Model and (for DGN-only) a count of the Orphan Cells -The Levels ON in View 1 -For each reference file attached to the model: -Slot Number -Attach Name -Full File Name -Logical Name -For DGN-only, Description -Display Status (Off/On) -Snap Status (Off/On) -Locate Status (Off/On) -Scale Factor (ratio) -For DGN-only, any attachment problems: missing file, save full path, or both. -Levels ON in View 1. The report is added to the same folder as the DGN file, but assumes a .DRP extension. DGN Report is "DWG aware" and will substitute "layers" for levels, "blocks" for cells, and "Xrefs" for reference files. This may be tweaked further to address other differences in file format and verbiage. DIRECTIONS: =========== 1. Read thru this entire document, especially the CAUTIONS section below. 2. Place the .MVBA in the folder appropriate for your workspace. 3. Load the Project: VBA LOAD DGNreport. You can also use this line in the appropriate configuration file for your office to autoload the Project: MS_VBAAUTOLOADPROJECTS > DGNreport.mvba 4. Run the Project: VBA RUN DGNREPORT. You can use a batch option as well, which simply suppresses the dialog box (and since most of the options on the dialog box are inoperable, this might be the best option for now): VBA RUN DGNREPORT /BATCH. 5. Look in the same folder as the DGN file for a matching .DRP file. Open this file and enjoy (or curse). CAUTIONS: ========= -This was tested ONLY with MicroStation V8 2004 Edition, and ONLY with V8 DGN and v2004 DWG files. It seems to work OK with V8i and v2010 DWG files. -Use cautiously with other MicroStation versions (including V8 editing V7 DGN files) and DWG files. -I can't guarantee that it won't crash and cause your DGN or DWG files to die a horrible death, melting them down into a pool of 0kb nothingness. Be (overly) cautious! That said, I've been running this app all over the place, and the worst thing that happens when it crashes is it leaves reference files ON that were OFF. Oh, so what causes it to crash? Well, aside from coding errors, there is a case with a corrupt DGN file that had certain reference files ON but the checkbox for Display was off... like I said, a corrupt file. NOTES: ====== -This app replaces the DGNDOC.BA macro that I wrote and shared thru The MicroStation Community of NYC from 1999 to about 2002. The macro ran in MicroStation/J (and still does!) but was never ported to the V8 platform. -This app has about 70% of features of DGNDOC.BA and should be considered a work in progress. The "features for next release" greatly outweigh "features included in this release." Delving into the innards of V8 DGN files is exhausting :-O and the only solace is I'm writing in VBA and not MDL ;-). -There are some limitations of VBA that I encountered, so there are some limitations of what can be reported: -Levels ON in active model: 120. Of course you can have thousands of levels used or empty; 120 is the used ones that are ON. -Levels ON in reference files (per active model): 1000. -Number of Models in active file: 100. Maybe not the best for cell libraries. -Number of unique cell names (active model): 100. -Number of unique text/dim styles (active model): 50. -Number of reference files attached to a model: 100. The app uses a UDT (user-defined Type), which is an array (for the models), and that array includes another UDT that is also an array (for each model's reference files). So the tiny 64kb VBA thing-a-ma-bob can be quickly exhausted... However, I can juggle the numbers of the array to add more space for the important stuff, or switch to dynamic arrays (which was the original intent); however, feedback on the values above would be appreciated ("I don't really have more than a dozen or so unique cells per file, so maybe 100 is too high?") -The .DRP files are "optimized" to print on US letter-size paper, using Courier New 9pt, with these margins: L 0.75", R 0.5", T 0.5", B 0.5". -Currently, the source code is locked from viewing, editing, pilfering... but hints and general discussion are free. -In future releases, look for these features (in no order): -Text/Dim Styles Used -IAWLN status for reference files (that's Ignore Attachment When Live Nesting). -Command-line options, much like the old DGNDOC.BA macro: VBA RUN DGNREPORT /SHORT /SINGLE /CFGVAR. -Optionally append all .DRP files to a single file (during a single session). -Different report options: 1) Short, for importing into a spreadsheet, and 2) On-screen in a dialog box. The current (and only) option is Long. Note that there is no timeline for these updates, just possibilities...
