ODBC Errors during AutoPLANT V8i SelectSeries 3 install

A MS Access 2010 Database Engine plug in is required in order to install AutoPLANT V8i SS3 64bit. Without it, you will get ODBC errors during installation of the product. You can download this from the following link:

Warnings:

If you are running MS Office 2007 32 bit, you will have to uninstall it first in order to install the MS Access 2010 plug in. Then you may reinstall Office 2007 and AutoPLANT V8i SS3.

If you are running MS Office 2010 32 bit, you will have to uninstall it. This is actually not a recommended install for Windows 7 64 bit. Instead, use MS Office 2010 64 bit.

If you are running MS Office 2010 64 bit and you get  the error, you should make sure MS Access is also installed. If not, you will still need the 64 bit plug in.

  • Including the error message, so that if someone searches on the error, they might find the solution:

    Error 1919.Error configuring ODBC data source MS Access for AutoPLANT, ODBC error 6: Component not found in registry. Verify that the MS Access for AutoPLANT exists and that you can access it.

  • To install the Microsoft ACE OLEDB Provider 64-bit on a machine running Office 2010 32-bit is the same process as bmoberg's post:

    * Run Command "As Administrator"

    * Go into the folder containing the Access Database Engine installer

    * Type: AccessDatabaseEngine_X64.exe /passive

  • Update for users running Microsoft Office 2007 and are receiving the ODBC errors during installation:

    AccessDatabaseEngine_x64.exe must be installed via the command prompt as passive.

    If the AccessDatabaseEngine_x64.exe is installed via the normal double-click process in Windows the AccessDatabaseEngine_x64.exe will not install the ODBC drivers in Control Panel.  For this to install properly the user will have to install this as PASSIVE. Please follow the steps below:

    1. Download the AccessDatabaseEngine_x64.exe file directly to the C:\ for ease of use.

    2. Open the Dos Command Line and run the executible as outlined below:

    C:\AccessDatabaseEngine_x64.exe /passive

    3. Once this installs repair Microsoft Office 2007 in Control Panel > Add Remove Programs.

    4. Reboot the workstation.

    5. Install the Bentley AutoPLANT P&IW and P&ID applications.
