Suppose you have a field pointing to certain property of an element and now you want to either point it to a different property or point it to a different element. There is amazing functionality of Edit and Reassign fields.
Edit Field: You can edit already placed field using Edit Field. This is available in right-click menu in Word Processor dialog.
Procedure to edit field:
You can edit any field that you have placed in view window.

Reassign Field: Suppose you have an area field placed for Cylinder and you want to display area of the Slab, then you can use this functionality of Reassign field. You can reassign only Element Properties field.
Procedure to Reassign Field:

Can I select particular text or string from the file name to be displayed if we create the field for File name in Microstation V8i SS3.
Suppose My File name is "Check14.dgn" & I create the File name Field inside the File and I only want to display "14" what can I do?

I have multiple fields scattered across the drawing - they all show areas of associated shapes. Now we need to change them to Perimeter. Is there a way of selecting all the different field objects and then editing their property ?
