The Whole is Greater than the Sum of the Parts (Part 7 – Turn over for construction)

(This is the seventh in a series looking at the benefits of using promis•e in all phases of the Plant design process)
Construction has always been a matter of working out in the field with lots of paper. In most cases it still is. promis•e can produce all of that paper at the EPC or build site including:

• Field wire list
• Cable schedules and diagrams
• Wiring diagrams
• Terminal plans
• Single line, schematic and layout drawings.

Promis•e has alternatives to providing paper, "dumb" CAD or simple PDF drawings to the construction contractors. The promis•e publisher can be used to make "smart" PDFs. These are not single PDFs per drawing but can include any or all of the drawings in the project in one file.

• The PDF also includes a simplified version of the promis•e navigator. This allows the user to quickly click and jump between related devices and wire regardless of where they exist in the drawing set.
• The PDF can include promis•e reports, word documents, Excel spreadsheets, or Part database information.
• It can automatically include "cut sheets" for all of the components used in the project.

Better than smart PDF's is the ability to transfer the entire promis•e project to the build site, where full promis•e functionality is available and the installation/location concept allows you to quickly generate reports like cable pull lists and drawing sets specific to what a given workgroup will be working on for a specific day.
Having promis•e on sites makes it easy to do redlining and as-builds' quickly. The EPC can quickly run Add/Remove component and connection reports to review all changes made on site.
